Inauguration of New Projects at Thiruchendur Arulmigu Subramaniya Swamy Temple

The Honorable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Mr. M.K. Stalin, inaugurated four new project works valued at ₹5.81 crores at the Arulmigu Subramaniya Swamy Temple in Thiruchendur, along with the inauguration of four completed works worth ₹68.36 crores.

The Honorable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Mr. M.K. Stalin, today (14.10.2024) held a meeting at the Tamil Nadu Secretariat regarding various projects related to the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department for the Thiruchendur, Arulmigu Subramaniya Swamy Temple, and its sub-temple at Krishnapuram, Arulmigu Sendajapathi Temple. The new projects include the construction of a pavement and landscaping work valued at ₹5.81 crores, along with a new dining hall, a new annadhanam (free meal) hall, the renovation of the water supply system for the temple, a beautiful flower garden with a fountain, among others. The completed works include a new lodging facility for devotees valued at ₹68.36 crores, a mandapam (community hall), a water purification system, and a rainwater harvesting facility.

The Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department is implementing these projects as part of a special initiative to enhance the worship experience at the temple, improve the facilities for devotees, and ensure the preservation of temple land from encroachments. Other initiatives include the free meal scheme, repairs to the temple premises, beautification projects, and the establishment of a health care center in key temples.

Since 2021, 2,226 temples have been identified for renovation, and ₹6,755 crores worth of assets over 7,005.70 acres have been reclaimed from encroachment. Additionally, 20,607 renovation projects have been completed with a value of ₹5,433.56 crores.

The new projects at the Thiruchendur Arulmigu Subramaniya Swamy Temple and its sub-temple at Krishnapuram include work valued at ₹2.35 crores for pavement and landscaping, ₹1 crore for a new annadhanam hall, ₹1.50 crores for a renovation of the dining hall, and ₹96 lakhs for the renovation of the water supply system, totaling ₹5.81 crores for the four new projects inaugurated by the Honorable Chief Minister.

The completed projects include a new lodging facility for devotees, built at a cost of ₹29.16 crores, located near Thiruchendur, Arulmigu Subramaniya Swamy Temple. After the inauguration by the Honorable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Mr. M.K. Stalin, an additional ₹19.20 crores was allocated for the welfare of devotees, bringing the total expenditure on the new lodging facility to ₹48.36 crores.

This new lodging facility for devotees has been constructed over an area of 99,925 square feet and includes 100 double bed rooms, 28 dormitory blocks with additional beds, 20 family cottages, a dining hall with a pantry, a rest area for drivers, vehicle parking, and essential amenities.

Moreover, the completed projects include a community hall valued at ₹10 crores, a water purification facility worth ₹6 crores, and a rainwater harvesting facility worth ₹4 crores, totaling ₹68.36 crores for the four completed works inaugurated by the Honorable Chief Minister.

The event was attended by various dignitaries, including Mr. P.K. Sekar Babu, Minister of Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments, Ms. N. S. Amala, Member of Parliament, and other officials from the Tourism, Culture, and Religious Endowments departments.

From Thiruchendur, the meeting was chaired by the Honorable District Collector, Mr. Anitha R. Radha Krishnan, and attended by the Thiruchendur Arulmigu Subramaniya Swamy Temple management committee representatives, government officials, and local leaders.
