Adani Foundation Donates Rs 100 Crore for Telangana’s Young India Skills University

In a significant step toward empowering future generations, the Adani Foundation announced a donation of Rs 100 crore for establishing the Young India Skills University in Telangana. The announcement was made on Friday, underscoring the foundation’s commitment to contributing to educational initiatives that will shape the skills landscape of India.

The donation was formalized during a meeting between Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group, and Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, where the Adani Foundation delegation presented the cheque. Speaking on the occasion, Gautam Adani expressed pride in supporting the state’s vision for transformative skill development. “Privileged to contribute to the inspiring leadership of Telangana CM Revanth Reddy with the Young India Skills University initiative,” Adani shared on social media. He emphasized that the partnership aims to not just shape the future of the youth but to unlock new opportunities for a more prosperous India.

Also present at the meeting were Karan Adani, Managing Director of Adani Ports and SEZ Ltd, and Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari, among other dignitaries. Gautam Adani assured continued support for the state government’s initiatives on youth skills development, indicating a long-term commitment to empowering young Indians through quality education and job-ready skills.

The Young India Skills University project has been in the works since August 1, when Chief Minister Reddy announced the initiative in the state Assembly, revealing that Adani Logistics would be a key industry partner. The Assembly had also passed the Young India Skill University Telangana (Public-Private Partnership) Bill-2024, paving the way for the creation of the university aimed at meeting industry demands through specialized training.

The university plans to introduce innovative programs aligned with evolving industry needs. In collaboration with Adani Logistics and O9 Solutions, the School of E-commerce and Logistics will be established, focusing on practical training and direct industry involvement. These partners will help design the curricula and offer training, ensuring students acquire sector-specific skills that enhance employability.

The project is moving ahead swiftly, with the university set to launch its first courses on November 4. Initially, three schools will be introduced: the School of Logistics and E-Commerce, the School of Healthcare, and the School of Pharmaceuticals and Life Sciences. The classes will be conducted temporarily at the Engineering Staff College of India (ESCI) and the National Academy of Construction campuses in Hyderabad. The university aims to train around 2,000 youth in its first year, equipping them with skills that are in high demand.

Notably, the university’s board will be chaired by renowned industrialist Anand Mahindra, adding further prestige to the initiative. The involvement of industry leaders like Mahindra and Adani signals a collaborative approach toward creating a workforce ready to tackle the challenges of a dynamic economy.

The Young India Skills University symbolizes a forward-looking strategy for Telangana, combining public and private resources to enhance educational infrastructure. By nurturing skills that match industry needs, the university aims to foster sustainable development and position the state as a leader in skill-based education.

With this significant donation, the Adani Foundation reaffirms its role in shaping the future, not only for Telangana but for India’s youth as a whole, setting the stage for generations to benefit from improved educational opportunities.
