Latur : Voting for the Assembly General Election will take place on November 20, 2024. To increase voter turnout across all six constituencies of Latur district, a voter awareness campaign is being implemented under the ‘SWEEP’ initiative. As part of this effort, a ‘Coffee with Collector’ activity was organized at Dayanand Science College in Latur. During the event, Collector and District Election Officer Varsha Thakur-Ghuge interacted with youth voters and encouraged everyone to participate in the upcoming assembly elections.
Present at the event were Secondary Education Officer and Nodal Officer of SWEEP Nagesh Mapari, Planning Education Officer Tripti Andhare, Principal of Dayanand Science College Dr. Siddeshwar Ballale, Dr. Dilip Nagargoje, Dr. Sandhya Wadikar, Prof. Vilas Komtwad, Dr. Sandipan Jagdale, and others.
“Elections are a celebration of democracy, and voting is the most important right in a democracy. Every young voter should exercise this right,” said District Collector Varsha Thakur-Ghuge. She also urged attendees to encourage every voter in their families and friend circles to participate in the assembly elections on November 20, 2024. She emphasized that every vote is valuable, and that new voters, senior citizens, and women should recognize the significance of this right.
Open-Minded Interaction with Youth and Q&A on the Election Process
During the ‘Coffee with Collector’ program, Collector Varsha Thakur-Ghuge engaged with the youth, discussing democracy and the importance of each vote in the election process. A question-and-answer session followed, where various aspects of the election process and democratic system were addressed. The youth participated enthusiastically, answering questions and sharing their opinions about democracy and elections.
Initially, all attendees took a voter awareness oath. Dr. Sandipan Jagdale also presented a Powada, highlighting the importance of voting.
