Campaign Against Adulteration—Inspection Operation at Various Establishments in the City, Sampling of Old Sweets with Destruction of Contaminated Products
Jaipur : Following the directives of Chief Minister Shri Bhajan Lal Sharma and Minister of Health Shri Gajendra Singh Khinsar, a continuous campaign against adulteration is being conducted throughout the region. In this regard, a team of food safety officers, under the direction of Food Safety Commissioner Shri Iqbal Khan, conducted inspections at various locations in Jaipur on Friday.
Additional Commissioner Mr. Pankaj Ojha reported that during an inspection at Pavana Misthan Bhandar on Gopalpura Bypass, old sweets were discovered and subsequently destroyed. Numerous irregularities were also noted, such as food being prepared in unsanitary conditions. At Cake World on Gopalpura Bypass, food was found to be prepared with multiple colors and had expired. The food was being made in dirty trays and there was a foul odor resembling that of dead rats, with materials stored in the open.
An ice cake produced at Jaipur Cold Storage on Mahapura Road, with a manufacturing date of November 1, 2024, was also found. This factory had previously been closed by the department. Reports indicate that Jaipur Cold Storage produces and supplies ice throughout Jaipur without issuing bills or invoices. The owner of Cake World claimed that the factory director does not issue bills, which is why he did not have a copy available. When asked for the challan, it could not be produced. It appears that evasion of other taxes, including GST, is also being reported to the relevant departments. Food Safety Officers Shri Deepak Sindhi, Shri Nand Kishore, and Shri Rajesh Nagar were involved in the operation.
Similarly, during an inspection of Braj Vatika Sweets in Mahesh Nagar by the team from the Chief Medical and Health Officer, approximately 150 kg of spoiled sweets were destroyed, and a notice was issued after taking samples. Om Mishthan Bhandar in Mahesh Nagar was also inspected, and a sample was taken along with an improvement notice. An improvement notice was also issued to Dadu Dayal Misthan Bhandar in Mahesh Nagar. All food vendors have been instructed to maintain cleanliness.
