Comprehensive Ujjain Development and Kshipra River Purification is our Utmost Priority : Chief Minister Dr. Yadav
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that the state government is actively working to make special arrangements for the large number of devotees expected at Simhastha 2028. A state-level task force has been established, and Rs 500 crore has been allocated in the 2024-25 financial year for Simhastha preparations. The Kanh-Close Duct Project, aimed at purifying the Kshipra River and costing Rs 599 crore, is currently underway. Additionally, four-lane roads and bridges are being constructed to improve transportation in Ujjain.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav noted that several infrastructure projects related to Simhastha transportation and beautification are underway. Special arrangements are being made for devotees visiting Ujjain, particularly elderly devotees, to ensure they can easily access the ghats and religious sites along the Kshipra River in minimal time. Dr. Yadav also announced a unique initiative to establish permanent religious cities and ashrams in Ujjain, similar to those in Haridwar, for saints and sages. To support this, the necessary land will be allocated to the Mahamandaleshwar, saints and mahants of all 13 Akharas. These initiatives will further enhance religious tourism in the region.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that through Simhastha-2028 Ujjain will be established as a major religious tourism hub on the global stage. To enhance accessibility to Shri Mahakaleshwar Temple, a helipad will be constructed in Sadawal. Additionally, plans are underway to upgrade Ujjain’s airstrip into a full airport. Roads surrounding Ujjain will be expanded to four lanes, linking the district’s rural areas to main thoroughfares. For the convenience of Simhastha pilgrims and local electricity consumers in Ujjain city and rural areas, durable infrastructure projects worth Rs 62 crore have been approved, which include a modern electricity grid, new power lines, interconnections, and new substations.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that Bhoomi-pujan of development and construction works worth more than Rs. 658 crore has been performed in Ujjain with the aim of public welfare through public works. Work on Harifatak-Lalpul-Mullapura four-lane road from Shankaracharya Square to Chandukhedi, 2 nos. 2-lane ROB and four-lane road including 2-lane bridge on Kshipra, construction work of Ujjain Badnagar bypass two-lane road, construction of road from Badavda-Kalsi-Nagda to Dotru, Nagda Gidhgarh Vidkheda Mokadi road, Tapobhoomi to Hamukhedi road, Ralamandal-Kankaria-Chirakhan-Lekoda-Jhirolia-Baroda-Hamirkhedi-Umaria road, Lalpur to Chintaman Ganesh Temple, Badapul-Ranjit-Hanuman-Mojamkhedi road, Wakankar bridge to Dawood Khedi, Karohan-Naikhedi-Panchkroshi road, Khachrod-Badnagar-bypass, Sedri to Baravada, Muranabad to Bedavanya, strengthening of remaining part of Ratlam Khachrod, construction of Sadawal Helipad, Jahangirpur to Chamunda Mata road, Rudahera to Gunai-Mahidpur and Kachariya and Mahidpur to Nageshwar Tirtha, Sutarkheda Approach Road-Main Road to Sutarkheda and Rudaheda Approach Road and Maksi-Tarana-Rupakhedi and Kanipura-Tarana road, Master Mind School Tarana to Limbadit Main Road is being started.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that after the development of Mahakal Lok in Ujjain, Ujjain has gained recognition at the global level. The number of devotees coming here is increasing day by day. In view of this, work has already been started for Simhastha to be held in the year 2028, so that the devotees and citizens coming here do not have to face any problem.
