Excise Department Seizes Goods Worth ₹8.17 Lakhs in Three Days

Nanded : Following the announcement of the Assembly General Election schedule by the Election Commission of India, the Nanded District State Excise Department has intensified raids to seize illegal liquor under the Model Code of Conduct. Between November 7 and 9, the department conducted a total of 33 raids, confiscating liquor worth ₹2,26,520 on November 7 and additional goods worth ₹5,90,510 on November 8 and 9, amounting to a total of ₹8,17,030, as reported by Nanded’s Superintendent of Excise, Ganesh Patil.

Additionally, on November 7, in a joint operation in the jurisdiction of the Bhokar Police Station, Assistant Police Inspector Suresh Jadhav and the Bhokar Police staff conducted seven actions, seizing goods worth ₹57,510.

The operations on November 7 led to 14 cases, with 13 accused arrested. The seized items included 30 liters of country-made liquor, 810 liters of chemicals, 79.90 liters of domestic liquor, 17.28 liters of foreign liquor, 170 liters of toddy, and one vehicle, totaling ₹2,26,520 in value. The November 8-9 operations resulted in 19 cases, 19 arrests, 40 liters of country-made liquor, 81.36 liters of domestic liquor, 22.96 liters of foreign liquor, 110 liters of toddy, and two vehicles seized, totaling ₹5,90,510.

District Collector and Election Officer Abhijit Raut has instructed the Excise Department to remain vigilant and implement necessary measures to ensure the election process across the nine Assembly constituencies is free and fair. Raids have been increased, with the department closely monitoring illegal liquor sales.

Under the Model Code of Conduct, the department has urged citizens not to purchase or possess illegal liquor. Any misuse of liquor during the election period can be reported to the department’s toll-free number 1800 233 9999 or WhatsApp at 8422001133. The operation was conducted under the guidance of Superintendent Ganesh Patil, with the participation of officers Ratnamala Gaikwad, Javed Qureshi, Ashish Mahindrakar, Sarkale, and other staff members.
