Vote Enthusiastically to Strengthen Democracy – Additional District Collector Monika Singh Thakur

Inauguration of SVEEP Multimedia Van in Solapur

Solapur : Additional District Collector Monika Singh Thakur urged citizens to participate enthusiastically in the voting process to strengthen Indian democracy, encouraging especially new voters to take the initiative.

Speaking at the inauguration of the SVEEP multimedia van organized at the District Collector’s office by the Chief Electoral Officer of Maharashtra and the Central Bureau of Communications, Solapur, Ms. Thakur emphasized the need to increase voter turnout in the upcoming Assembly elections and motivate new voters to participate.

The event saw attendance from Central Bureau of Communications Regional Publicity Officer Ankush Chavan, SVEEP Nodal Officer Sudhir Thombre, Deputy Chief Executive Officer Amol Jadhav, Education Officer Kadar Shaikh, NSS Director Dr. Rajendra Wadje, Government Labor Officer Vilas Gaikwad, Social Welfare Officer Sachin Kawale, and Assistant Regional Publicity Officer Ambadas Yadav.

Ms. Thakur highlighted that in the previous Assembly and Lok Sabha elections in 2024, multimedia vans will be used to raise awareness among voters in areas with low turnout. The van will travel to more than 100 locations across the 11 Assembly constituencies in Solapur District, focusing on low-turnout areas. The van will provide information on the voting process, polling locations, Model Code of Conduct, and grievance redressal for violations, along with video messages from senior administrative officials and prominent personalities from Maharashtra encouraging citizens to vote. The goal of this initiative is to increase voter participation and educate citizens on the election process.

Ms. Thakur also administered the voting pledge to the officers, staff, and students present. Folk artist Ramesh Khade’s team performed a song encouraging voting. First-time voters Bhagyashree Ankalgiri and Nagesh Sonsakhle appealed to everyone to vote on November 20, 2024, from 7 AM to 6 PM, and they were felicitated by Ms. Thakur.

Also in attendance were SVEEP Assistant Nodal Officers Rupali Bhavasar, Godavari Rathod, Swati Swami, Amol Bhosale, Shahbaz Kaji, Anil Thorbole, Sairaj Raul, Yogiraj Kondabatti, and NSS students from Sangameshwar College and Walchand College.
