Chief Minister Donates New School Bus To Shalom Special School In Serchhip

Serchhip : Today, Chief Minister Pu Lalduhoma presented a brand new Force Traveller (21-seater mini-bus) to Shalom Special School, run by the Shalom Spastic Society in Serchhip, to assist students with special needs.

The handover ceremony took place at the New Serchhip YMA Hall after the arrival of the new school bus. The event was presided over by Upa Vanlalchhunga, Chairman of the Shalom Spastic Society, who provided an overview of the school’s history. Captain Vanlaltharzuala led the dedication ceremony for the new bus.

In his remarks, the Chief Minister emphasized the government’s ongoing commitment to supporting inclusive education. “We are proud that many people in Mizoram are dedicated to assisting those who need it most,” he said. He praised Shalom Special School for its strong partnership with Assam Rifles, which constructed the school building in 2011, and expressed gratitude to the Assam Rifles for their continued support.

He further added, “This new bus is a gift from compassionate individuals who understand the needs of special-needs students; no government funds were used. I am honored to help facilitate this donation.” The Chief Minister also encouraged the bus’s use to enable students to explore and experience the world beyond the school.

Founded in 2005, Shalom Special School serves children with special needs. Its current building, funded by Assam Rifles in 2011, receives regular support from the organization. The school operates with three unpaid teachers and serves 32 students.
