Chandigarh : Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Nayab Singh Saini, today extended his heartfelt congratulations to Hemant Sangwan, who recently clinched the Under-19 Gold Medal at the Youth World Boxing Championship in Colorado, USA. The Chief Minister also wished him continued success for his future endeavors, including the 2028 Olympics, and a bright sporting career ahead.
The meeting took place today at the PWD Rest House in Civil Lines, Gurugram, in the presence of Hemant’s coach, Mr. Hitesh Deshwal.
In his remarks, Chief Minister Mr. Nayab Singh Saini said that Haryana has consistently been a powerhouse of sporting talent, with athletes from the state excelling on the global stage. “Haryana’s sports policies, aimed at nurturing and promoting talent, have become a model for other states to follow,” he said. “Our athletes continue to bring pride to the state and the country with their outstanding performances across various international platforms.”
The Chief Minister further said, “Haryana’s athletes have always upheld the honor of the Tricolor, and I am confident that their success will only grow in the years to come. With upcoming events like the 2028 Olympics, our players are poised to bring even more glory to the nation.”
Hemant Sangwan, a resident of Ram Nagar in Jhajjar, apprised the Chief Minister about his victory at the Youth World Boxing Championship, which took place from October 23 to November 2, 2024, in Colorado. Hemant shared that the championship featured top young boxers from around the world, with 19 Indian athletes competing across different weight categories. In the final, Hemant faced Rishon Sims from the USA and triumphed with a 4-1 victory, securing the Under-19 World Champion title.
