Ensure Adequate Water Supply During Urs Fair, Expedite Drainage Plan Preparation: Assembly Speaker
Take Action Against Encroachments and Illegal Colonies: ADA, Municipal Corporation Directed
Jaipur : Assembly Speaker Shri Vasudev Devnani directed the district administration to ensure an adequate water supply in the city during the Urs fair. He emphasized the need for a swift preparation of a report to improve Ajmer’s drainage system and instructed the completion of ongoing roadworks on Kachahari Road and other streets by 10th December. He also called for prompt implementation of budget announcements and strict action against encroachments and illegal colonies.
On Saturday, Shri Devnani chaired a meeting with officials from the district administration, police, municipal corporation, Ajmer Development Authority (ADA), and other departments at the Circuit House in Ajmer. He directed the authorities to adopt a zero-tolerance policy against illegal constructions, colonies, and encroachments. Highlighting the upcoming Urs fair in Ajmer, he stressed that visitors should be provided with all necessary facilities, while ensuring uninterrupted water and electricity supply for residents.
The Assembly Speaker reviewed the progress on seven approved drainage projects worth ₹20 crore and five additional projects under the municipal corporation’s budget. He urged the speedy approval of their Detailed Project Reports (DPR).
Shri Devnani instructed the municipal corporation to expedite the preparation of the city’s master drainage plan report. He also called for immediate action to clear water pathways wherever feasible without obstacles. Additionally, he emphasized the completion of road construction beneath the Elevated Road and on Kachahari Road by 10th December to alleviate the long-standing issues faced by residents. He directed officials to coordinate with departments for widening the road from Fountain Square to Agra Gate.
Highlighting the reemergence of water hyacinth in Ana Sagar and Bandi River, he instructed its immediate removal. He also called for the acceleration of sewerage work. Further, he directed the Ajmer Development Authority to enhance the entry points and major intersections of Ajmer and begin work on the boundary wall of Foy Sagar Lake after approval. The land allocation process for budget-announced projects must also be expedited.
Shri Devnani instructed the Public Health Engineering Department to quickly approve and commence work on the Nasirabad to Nausar Ghati pipeline and the three service reservoirs included in the budget announcement. He emphasized ensuring water supply within 48 hours and urged all departments to expedite the implementation of budget proposals.
The meeting was attended by Superintendent of Police Vandita Rana, ADA Commissioner Nitya K., Municipal Commissioner Deshaldan, DFO Sugna Ram Jat, ADM Gajendra Singh Rathore, and other departmental officials.
