Strict legal action will be taken against those selling narcotics: DCM Vijay Sharma
Deputy Chief Minister Shri Vijay Sharma has said that it should be ensured that there is effective control on the consumption and sale of narcotic drugs in the state. Deputy Chief Minister Shri Sharma gave instructions to this effect in a high level meeting of Home Department and Health Department at Mantralaya Mahanadi Bhawan to take legal action on the sale and consumption of narcotic drugs in the state and to stop the sale of narcotic drugs. Public Health and Family Welfare Minister Shri Shyam Bihari Jaiswal was also present in the meeting. Shri Sharma has asked the officials of Police and Health Department to regularly conduct surprise inspections of medical shops for the control of narcotic drugs and take immediate and strict action against such medical shops which are involved in illegal drug business. File FIR against such shopkeepers and also take action for arrest. The Deputy Chief Minister has given instructions to take effective action by running a special campaign for the prevention of narcotic drugs. He has also talked about taking the cooperation of the officials of local bodies for this.
In the meeting, Health and Family Welfare Minister Shri Shyam Bihari Jaiswal has instructed the Controller of Food and Drugs to coordinate with the police officers and form a team of drug inspectors and regularly inspect the medicine shops and take necessary action. Additional Chief Secretary Mr. Manoj Kumar Pinguwa, Principal Secretary Panchayat and Rural Development Mrs. Niharika Barik, Commissioner cum Director Health and Family Welfare Dr. Priyanka Shukla, Special Secretary Finance and General Administration and Controller Food and Drug Administration Mr. Chandan Kumar along with senior officers of Police and Health Department were present in the meeting.
