Diya Kumari Seeks 900 Anganwadi Centers, Udaipur to Host National Chintan Shivir

Deputy Chief Minister Smt. Diya Kumari Meets Union Minister Smt. Annapurna Devi— Seeks 900 New Anganwadi Buildings from the Centre, Udaipur to Prepare Women and Child Development Roadmap, National Chintan Shivir in January

Jaipur : A National Chintan Shivir of Women and Child Development Departments from all states will be held in Udaipur this coming January. The Union Minister for Women and Child Development, along with ministers from all states, will participate to discuss various issues related to Anganwadi centers, nutrition, and women and child development. A roadmap will be prepared according to the requirements of the states.

Deputy Chief Minister Smt. Diya Kumari met with Union Minister Smt. Annapurna Devi on Tuesday in Delhi and had an extensive discussion on all department-related issues.

The Deputy Chief Minister requested the Union Minister for Women and Child Development to release the grant funds for various departmental schemes in a lump sum. This would ensure that Anganwadi workers receive their honorarium every month.

Smt. Diya Kumari also urged the revision of the supplementary nutrition rates, which were last revised in 2017. She emphasized the need for a rational reassessment of these rates.

She further demanded 900 new Anganwadi buildings in the state, stating that the proposal has already been sent to the Centre and requires action. Additionally, she requested the increase of the current ₹3,000 grant for Anganwadi building repairs, issued every five years, to a more realistic amount. She suggested that repair costs for Anganwadi centers should range between ₹50,000 and ₹1,00,000.

The Deputy Chief Minister also requested the release of ₹34.38 crore in central funds for the 2023-24 financial year and the third quarterly grant installment for the Kishori Bal Yojana. She sought approval to develop 340 Anganwadi centers into Saksham (capable) Anganwadi centers.

She emphasized to the Union Minister that receiving lump-sum grants would ensure the timely payment of honorariums to Anganwadi workers every month.
