Agriculture Minister Pu PC. Vanlalruata Presides Over Thenzawl Dragon Fruit Growers & Marketing Society General Assembly

Serchhip : Today, the Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation & Water Resources, and Cooperation Department, Pu PC. Vanlalruata, presided over the 4th General Assembly of the Thenzawl Dragon Fruit Growers & Marketing Society.

In his speech, the Minister highlighted the government’s commitment to advancing agriculture initiatives with full support and guidance. He praised the society’s efforts in becoming a model for successful agricultural practices and acknowledged their collaboration with Local Soda Pvt. Ltd. The Minister also emphasized the importance of improving processes to enhance the production and marketability of dragon fruits. He mentioned plans to introduce appropriate guidelines to facilitate the production of wine and other products derived from dragon fruits.

The Minister reiterated the government’s focus on ensuring that farmers receive fair prices for their produce and that their livelihoods are prioritized. He affirmed the Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) government’s dedication to supporting farmers and providing avenues for meaningful engagement in agricultural ventures.

The General Assembly, held annually at Lamlian Dung Zau, was chaired by Thenzawl Dragon Fruit Growers & Marketing Society Chairman, Tv C. Lalrinthanga. Reports on future development plans and water supply initiatives were also discussed during the meeting.

Minister Pu PC. Vanlalruata was accompanied by Pu Lalmuanpuia Punte, Adviser to the Chief Minister; Aizawl South III MLA Pi Baryl Vanneihsangi; and South Tuipui MLA Pu Jeje Lalpekhlua.

The Thenzawl Dragon Fruit Growers & Marketing Society, established in 2021, currently has 40 members. It has signed a three-year market Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Local Soda Pvt. Ltd. to strengthen its market presence.
