Prime Minister watches ‘The Sabarmati Report’ movie
The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi today watched ‘The Sabarmati Report’ movie along with NDA Members of Parliament today.
He wrote in a post on X:
“Joined fellow NDA MPs at a screening of ‘The Sabarmati Report.’
I commend the makers of the film for their effort.”
The narrative of The Sabarmati Report, starring Vikrant Massey, draws upon the tragic Godhra train burning incident of February 27, 2002, where 59 individuals, including women and children, lost their lives. Massey plays a Hindi journalist determined to challenge systemic injustices through honest reporting. The film has gained significant attention for its commitment to truth, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself praising its narrative. On November 17, PM Modi lauded the movie for its portrayal of truth, emphasizing that false narratives cannot withstand the test of time.
Accompanied by Cabinet ministers such as Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, PM Modi attended a special screening of the film at the Balyogi Auditorium in the Parliament Complex Library. Sharing his thoughts, the Prime Minister tweeted, “Joined fellow NDA MPs at a screening of The Sabarmati Report. I commend the makers of the film for their effort.” At the event, PM Modi was seated alongside Amit Shah, underscoring the significance of the occasion.
The screening witnessed the presence of several NDA MPs and Union Ministers, including Rajnath Singh, Kiren Rijiju, Jitan Ram Manjhi, and Ashwini Vaishnaw. Members of the film’s cast and crew, such as Vikrant Massey, Ridhi Dogra, director Dheeraj Sarna, and veteran actor Jitendra, father of producer Ektaa Kapoor, also attended the event.
Directed by Dheeraj Sarna, The Sabarmati Report is produced by Shobha Kapoor, Ektaa R Kapoor, Amul V Mohan, and Anshul Mohan under the banners of Balaji Motion Pictures, Vikir Films, and Zee Studios. Released on November 15, the film has achieved commercial success, grossing ₹35.56 crore at the box office. It has also been declared tax-free in multiple states, including Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Odisha.
The film’s portrayal of the Godhra tragedy and its aftermath has resonated with audiences, further bolstered by commendations from national leaders. By weaving historical events with gripping storytelling, The Sabarmati Report continues to engage viewers and spark meaningful discussions on truth and justice.
