“Growing Together: Celebrating Abilities on World Disability Day”

On December 3rd, World Disability Day, the ‘Autism Vocational Centre, Vikrampuri’, Secunderabad hosted a series of impactful events aimed at raising awareness, promoting inclusivity, and showcasing the incredible abilities of individuals with special needs.

The celebrations kicked off with a rally at Vikrampuri, Secunderabad with the participation of some of the children and staff from ‘Autism Vocational Centre’. The idea behind the rally was to spread awareness about disabilities and foster understanding and inclusivity in our community, reminding everyone that a little understanding goes a long way in building a supportive society.

Following the rally, the centre distributed plants to nearby shops, hospitals, and showrooms, with the message: “These plants symbolize our shared commitment to growth and inclusivity, while nurturing a society where everyone belongs.”

The day culminated with a cultural program at the centre, providing an inspiring platform for children with special needs to showcase their unique talents and creativity. The event was organised to motivate the children and at the same time encouraging the community to recognize and celebrate the potential within every individual.

World Disability Day is a special occasion to reflect on the progress made and the work that lies ahead. However, the commitment to promoting and supporting individuals with special needs extends far beyond this day. It is an ongoing journey and the ‘Autism Vocational Centre’ calls on everyone to keep the spirit of inclusivity alive in their daily lives.

Mrs Saumia Nair (Director, AVC) said “We deeply appreciate the continued support and inclusivity shown by various members of society towards our children. Together, we can create a world that embraces and empowers every individual. Let us unite to celebrate abilities, nurture growth, and build a truly inclusive society for all.”
