In a significant transition for the revered Ramakrishna Math & Ramakrishna Mission, Swami Gautamananda has officially assumed the role of its 17th President. This esteemed institution, founded by Swami Vivekananda and headquartered in Belur, West Bengal’s Howrah district, sees Swami Gautamananda stepping into the leadership position, succeeding the late Swami Smaranananda, who passed away on March 26 in Kolkata at the age of 95.

His elevation to the presidency was confirmed after a meeting of the trustee board and the governing body of the organization convened on Wednesday.
Originally hailing from Tamil Nadu, Swami Gautamananda spent much of his formative years in Karnataka before embarking on his spiritual journey. As the new President, Swami Gautamananda brings with him a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to the mission’s values. His leadership is poised to steer the institution forward in its mission to serve humanity and uphold the teachings of its revered founders.
