Bengal T20 League Season 3 Set for Grand Return as State’s Best Talent Gears Up for High-Intensity Cricket
Kolkata, June 2026 : The stage is set for another exciting chapter in Bengal’s premier domestic T20 competition as the Bengal T20 League returns for its third season, bringing together the state’s finest cricketing talent in both the men’s and women’s categories. Scheduled to run from June 5 to June 21, the tournament promises more than two weeks of intense action, emerging stars, and fierce regional rivalries as teams battle for supremacy across Bengal.
Featuring eight men’s teams and eight women’s teams, the competition has rapidly evolved into one of the most significant platforms for nurturing talent and preparing players for higher levels of the game, including the Indian Premier League (IPL), the Women’s Premier League (WPL), and national selection pathways.
Defending champions Adamas Howrah Warriors in the men’s competition and Kolkata Royal Tigers in the women’s division enter the season with targets on their backs as challengers seek to dethrone them and claim the coveted trophies.
The men’s tournament will get underway on June 5 at the iconic Eden Gardens, with defending champions Adamas Howrah Warriors facing newcomers Novus Royals Purulia in the opening fixture at 7:00 PM. The following day, attention will shift to the women’s competition, where reigning champions Kolkata Royal Tigers begin their title defence against Novus Royals Purulia at the JU Salt Lake Campus.
Officials of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) believe the tournament has become a crucial stepping stone for aspiring cricketers seeking opportunities at the national level.
CAB Secretary Bablu Koley highlighted the growing importance of T20 cricket in modern-day cricketing structures and emphasized the league’s role in developing future stars.
He noted that T20 cricket has become one of the most influential formats in the sport and stressed the need to strengthen domestic competitions to ensure players gain the experience required to succeed at higher levels. According to him, the Bengal T20 League serves as an important platform where players can demonstrate their skills, attract attention from selectors and franchise scouts, and prepare themselves for bigger opportunities.
The opening fixture itself offers an intriguing contest between experience and ambition. Defending champions Adamas Howrah Warriors will seek to continue the momentum from their title-winning campaign, while debutants Novus Royals Purulia will be eager to announce their arrival with a strong performance against the reigning champions.
Warriors captain Shakir Habib Gandhi said his side has undergone extensive preparation in the lead-up to the tournament, including multiple practice matches and intensive training sessions.
He expressed confidence in the squad’s readiness, adding that the team was focused on following the right processes rather than worrying about the pressure of defending a title. According to Gandhi, consistent execution of plans and maintaining discipline will be key to achieving success again this season.
Across the camp, Novus Royals Purulia captain Sudip Kumar Gharami believes his team possesses the right blend of youth and experience to compete strongly.
Gharami said tournaments such as the Bengal T20 League provide invaluable exposure, allowing players to showcase their abilities before scouts and selectors while also helping them learn how to handle pressure situations. He added that strong performances could open significant opportunities for players in the future.
Purulia’s squad includes experienced performers such as Gharami and Yuvraj Deepak Keswani, who are expected to play important roles during the team’s maiden campaign.
The women’s competition is equally anticipated, reflecting the rapid growth of women’s cricket across India. The opening day of the women’s tournament will feature defending champions Kolkata Royal Tigers against Novus Royals Purulia, followed by a clash between Murshidabad Kueens and Shrachi Rarh Tigers.
Novus Royals Purulia women’s captain Dhara Gujjar highlighted the transformative impact of the Women’s Premier League on women’s cricket in India.
She said the WPL has created a clear pathway for aspiring cricketers and significantly expanded opportunities for talented players. Competitions like the Bengal Women’s T20 League, she added, provide crucial exposure by allowing young players to perform in front of franchise scouts, selectors, and coaches while competing against quality opposition.
Meanwhile, all eyes will be on Kolkata Royal Tigers captain Mita Paul, one of the most experienced players in the tournament and the highest-valued player at the auction.
Paul believes a strong start could set the tone for the rest of the campaign. She said her team has prepared thoroughly and remains focused on playing positive, fearless cricket while maintaining composure under pressure.
As Bengal’s premier T20 competition prepares for another action-packed edition, the tournament continues to strengthen its reputation as a launchpad for future stars. With seasoned performers, emerging talents, passionate supporters, and the prospect of high-quality cricket, Season 3 of the Bengal T20 League promises to deliver a compelling showcase of the state’s cricketing depth and ambition.
