“No Tolerance Week, 2024” Launched in Hnahthial

Hnahthial : The inauguration of “No Tolerance Week, 2024”, scheduled to be observed from December 9 to December 13, took place today at Hnahthial Bazar Veng Square. The event was graced by Hnahthial SP, Mr. Shivam Siddarth, as the chief guest, with Addl. SP, Mr. Lalhmangaihhlua, overseeing the program as its coordinator. Additionally, from December 9 to December 21, the entire Bazar area will prohibit any form of public disturbances, with strict measures in place to ensure compliance.

SP Shivam Siddarth, while addressing the gathering, explained that “No Tolerance Week” is being observed not only to instill discipline among the public but also to enhance traffic safety and awareness. He emphasized that traffic-related accidents claim a significant number of lives annually, primarily due to a lack of proper understanding and adherence to road safety rules. This initiative aims to foster better awareness and ensure a safer environment for all. He urged the citizens of Hnahthial to strictly adhere to traffic regulations and actively participate in creating a safer society.

Addl. SP Lalhmangaihhlua, in his remarks, highlighted the importance of public cooperation during “No Tolerance Week.” He stressed the need to address common issues such as reckless driving and underage vehicle operation. Drivers caught violating traffic laws, especially those without valid licenses, will face fines and license suspension. He appealed to everyone involved in the initiative to work diligently for its success.

SDO Sadar, Ms. Esther Leihang, also spoke during the event, acknowledging the high number of traffic violations in Hnahthial. She urged the public to park responsibly and avoid blocking roads, emphasizing that traffic discipline should reflect the district’s reputation.

The event saw active participation from various groups, including the Sub-HQ YMA, community leaders, media representatives, and numerous social organizations. Following a thorough review of the activities conducted during “No Tolerance Week,” the program concluded successfully.
