Meeting Held by Principal Secretary of Urban Development and Housing Department for Jaipur Metro Expansion and Operations on Other Routes
Jaipur, 23 December. A review meeting regarding the DPR update for Jaipur Metro Phase-2, exploring the possibility of metro operations on other potential routes, and preparing DPRs for selected routes was held on Monday at the Secretariat by the Principal Secretary of the Urban Development and Housing Department, Mr. Vaibhav Gahlariya.
Exploring New Routes for Metro Operations and Preparing Action Plan Soon
Mr. Gahlariya stated that providing easy transportation to Jaipur residents is a priority for the state government. He emphasized that Jaipur Metro should be developed as a model metro system in the country. He directed the officials of Jaipur Metro Rail Corporation Limited to assess the project’s expenses and costs accurately to ensure proper use of financial resources, and to coordinate with all stakeholders to ensure work is completed according to quality standards and within the given time frame to provide better transport facilities for the public as soon as possible.
He also reviewed the plan for metro connectivity to Jaipur Airport. Mr. Gahlariya pointed out that a large number of passengers, especially at the international terminal—1, arrive every month at Jaipur Airport, making it crucial to quickly start working on an effective action plan for metro connectivity to the airport. He instructed that the proposed work by JDA should be coordinated with Jaipur Metro. The meeting was attended by JDA Commissioner Mrs. Anandee, JMRC Project Director Mr. Akhilesh Saxena, Director Corporate Affairs Mr. Mahesh Bhoradia, Chief Engineer UDH Mr. Ashok Chaudhary, and other senior officials.
