Hailstorm and Rain Expected in the State on December 27-28

Farmers in Khandesh, Central Maharashtra, Marathwada, and Vidarbha are urged by the Agriculture Department to consider weather forecasts while planning agricultural activities.

Mumbai : Hailstorms and rain with thunderstorms are forecast for Central Maharashtra, Marathwada, and Vidarbha on December 27-28.

Rain with thunderstorms is expected to begin on December 27 afternoon, first in Nandurbar, Dhule, Jalgaon, Ahilyanagar districts, and the eastern parts of South Marathwada, Pune, and Nashik districts. By Friday night, heavy rain will reach West Vidarbha and neighboring Marathwada, including Buldhana, Akola, Washim, Amravati, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Parbhani, Hingoli, and Beed districts. Some hailstorms are also expected in these regions. Other parts of Central Maharashtra and Marathwada are also likely to experience thunderstorms and rain.

By the early hours of December 28, the stormy weather will shift eastward and affect other districts in Vidarbha, including Yavatmal, Wardha, Nagpur, Bhandara, Gondia, and Chandrapur. Hailstorms are expected in some areas of these districts. Rain is likely to persist in parts of West Vidarbha and adjacent Marathwada. Overall, cloudy weather is expected in Vidarbha and Marathwada on this day, leading to a slight drop in maximum temperatures. However, weather conditions will begin stabilizing in Khandesh and Central Maharashtra.

By December 29, except for isolated spots in Vidarbha and Marathwada, stable weather is expected across most parts of the state. From December 30 onward, colder temperatures are expected to intensify.

Farmers are advised to plan their activities according to these weather conditions. Livestock and harvested crops should be protected from rain, hailstorms, and wind. The Agriculture Department has also advised against taking shelter under trees, in open spaces, under tin sheds, near electric wires, or close to electrical transformers during storms.
