Eastern Uttar Pradesh shines in archery, wins four out of 12 medals
Archers from eastern Uttar Pradesh dominated the archery competitions held in the 24th National Vanvasi Krida Pratiyojana. Girl archers from Karnataka displayed excellent performance. These players won the hearts of the organizers and fellow players with their sportsmanship and behavior along with the trophy and medals. Archers from eastern Uttar Pradesh won four medals out of twelve. Although archers from eastern Uttar Pradesh could not win gold medals in any category, these players won silver and bronze medals in junior boys and sub-junior boys categories. Himesh Baranda from Rajasthan won the gold medal by scoring 643 points in the junior boys category of archery. Aditya Singh from eastern Uttar Pradesh won the silver medal by scoring 637 points and Heera Singh won the bronze medal by scoring 626 points.
In the sub-junior boys category, Saknon Lepcha of North Bengal won gold with 664 points, Deepak of Eastern Uttar Pradesh won silver with 661 points and Indradev Kumar won bronze with 651 points.
In the junior girls category, Manjulata of Odisha won gold with 563 points. Ramshila Netam of Chhattisgarh won silver with 493 points and Meena Tiriya of Odisha won bronze with 460 points.
Girls of Karnataka dominated the sub-junior girls category. Bhagyashree of Karnataka won gold with 599 points and Annapurna secured silver with 563 points. Darshi Damor of Rajasthan won bronze medal with 541 points in this category.
It is worth mentioning that in the 25th National Vanvasi Krida Pratiyogita, 40 meter, 30 meter and 20 meter archery shooting competitions were held. In these competitions, about 400 tribal archers participated in the boys-girls junior-sub junior categories. All the archery competitions were held at the State Archery Academy ground.
