Numerous New Schemes Launched! Enhancing People’s Livelihoods with Milestone Achievements!

  1. Opening of 1,666 New Fair Price Shops:
    633 full-time and 1,033 part-time fair price shops have been newly opened under the Chief Minister’s directive to bring essential commodities closer to the people. By December 31, 2023, improvements were made to 2,778 fair price shops.
  2. Rs. 100 Crore Investment in Paddy Procurement Centers:
    230 new paddy procurement centers were established. Storage facilities for paddy were enhanced with Rs. 359 crore, providing a robust framework for grain storage. Tamil Nadu was awarded the first prize by the Union Government for having the highest number of paddy storage facilities in India.
  3. Eradication of Poverty in Tamil Nadu:
    Under the Chief Minister’s leadership, new schemes have successfully eliminated hunger and poverty, improving the livelihoods of the people. Tamil Nadu ranked first in poverty eradication as per Union Government reports.
  4. Special Assistance During the Pandemic:
    During the pandemic, Rs. 4,000 per household and free rice were provided to 8.14 lakh families, ensuring food security.
  5. Emergency Relief During Cyclones:
    Affected families in Chennai, Thiruvallur, Kanchipuram, and Chengalpattu received Rs. 6,000 each. Relief measures worth Rs. 1,390.92 crore were implemented. During the heavy rains in December 2023, 6.36 lakh families received compensation and essential commodities.
  6. Inclusion of Finger Millet (Ragi):
    In urban areas, families can choose 10 kg of ragi instead of rice through fair price shops. This benefited 7.23 lakh families.
  7. Millets Awareness Campaign:
    Celebrating the UN’s declaration of 2023 as the “Year of Millets,” Tamil Nadu organized millet food festivals and awareness campaigns with a budget allocation of Rs. 40 crore.
  8. Welfare of Fair Price Shop Employees:
    Jobs were regularized for 591 contractual employees, and 233 dependents of deceased employees were offered employment based on compassionate grounds.
  9. Efficient Management of Consumer Goods Corporation:
    Streamlined operations ensured the timely delivery of essential commodities during natural disasters and improved livelihoods through efficient grain storage and distribution.
  10. National Recognition:
    Tamil Nadu received Union Government’s first prize for its outstanding storage facility operations.

These achievements exemplify the Dravidian Model of Governance under the leadership of Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, elevating the quality of life for Tamil Nadu’s people and garnering national recognition.
