Narhara waterfall flowing in the lush green valleys will refresh your mind

The beautiful view of milky water falling from 22 feet high rocks in the dense forest is of Narhara Dham situated in Dhamtari district. It is also known as the Tapabhoomi of Rishi Markande. Narhara Dham natural waterfall situated near village Jhuratarai-Koterwahi of Nagari development block has been developed from tourism point of view. Its specialty is that along with developing Narhara Dham as a tourist area, participation of villagers has been ensured in it, so that they get fixed income and employment.

Narhara Dham has been developed from tourism point of view and the authority to manage and control it has been given to the village committee or gram sabha villagers of village Kotarwahi and Jhuratarai. The access road has been prepared to reach Narhara Dham. Apart from this, community toilets have also been constructed by Swachh Bharat Mission. Community toilets, cleanliness, vehicle parking, tourist guides etc. in the tourist area are being operated by a group of local rural women and men.

This Narhara Dham is about 35 km from the Dhamtari district headquarters and is 5 km from Kotarwahi after the paved road from Kukrel to Birjhuli. The waterfall is completely natural and all the water around takes the form of a waterfall in Narhara Dham while flowing forward. The flow of water over the rocks clearly shows that the fast flow of water has cut the rocks and given them the form of natural beauty. This water flows further and meets the Mahanadi. Narhara Dham is a historical place from the tourism point of view as well as a center of religious faith. Rishi Markande used to meditate here and this place used to be his Tapasthali. A temple of Mata Nareshwari Devi has also been established at this place. Hundreds of people come here daily for picnic.
