Under PM’s Leadership, Rajasthan Set to Become the State with the Most Water Resources: Union Minister C.R. Patil
Jaipur : Union Jal Shakti Minister Shri C.R. Patil stated that under Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s leadership, Rajasthan is on track to becoming the state with the most water resources. Addressing the inauguration of rainwater harvesting projects in the Sanganer Assembly Constituency, the minister highlighted significant efforts by both the central and state governments, led by Chief Minister Shri Bhajanlal Sharma, to make Rajasthan water self-reliant. He emphasized that the “Karmabhoomi Se Matrubhoomi” campaign, launched to involve citizens in water conservation, has evolved into a mass movement.
During the event, the minister announced a major boost for Rajasthan through the revised PKC Link Project (Integrated ERCP), a ₹70,000 crore initiative where the central government will bear 90% of the cost. He also noted that this project would provide a lasting solution to water scarcity in the Shekhawati region through the Yamuna Water Agreement.
Minister Patil highlighted Rajasthan’s historical understanding of water’s importance, stating that while people once built public drinking water facilities (pyaaus), the focus now must shift to constructing water recharge structures. The campaign aims to build 45,000 rainwater recharge structures in Rajasthan by 2027-28, inspired by PM Modi’s “Catch the Rain” initiative, to raise groundwater levels and conserve rainwater.
