Deputy CM Diya Kumari’s Efforts Turn Sambhar into a New Tourist Destination
Jaipur : The Sambhar Festival 2025, brought to life under the efforts and guidance of Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari, witnessed an overwhelming participation of over 2 lakh domestic and international tourists, establishing Sambhar as a rising tourist destination. This grand celebration of Rajasthan’s cultural heritage took place from January 24 to January 28, offering visitors an immersive experience in spiritual, cultural, and adventure tourism.

Deputy CM Diya Kumari emphasized that the Sambhar Festival is an exceptional initiative to showcase Rajasthan’s art, culture, and natural heritage on a global stage. She noted that this unique and mesmerizing folk festival has firmly positioned Sambhar as a star attraction in Rajasthan’s tourism landscape, ensuring it remains a long-term center of wonder and fascination for travelers.
A Global Attraction for Tourists
According to Tourism Department Deputy Director Upendra Singh Shekhawat, the Sambhar Festival 2025 offered visitors a blend of cultural, religious, and adventure experiences. He highlighted that Sambhar’s Salt Lake is gaining popularity as a pre-wedding shoot destination and a hub for astro-tourism. The festival featured grand events at locations like Jhapok, Sambhar Salt Campus, Devyani Teerth Sarovar, and Mela Ground, attracting enthusiastic participation from tourists and locals alike.

Festival Highlights
🔹 The festival was officially inaugurated on January 24 by former Phulera MLA Nirmal Kumawat and Additional Director of Tourism Rakesh Sharma, who released balloons to mark the event’s beginning. A Deepotsav and Maha Aarti were held at Devyani Teerth Sarovar in the evening.
🔹 Cultural & Artistic Displays: Tourists experienced Rajasthani art and craft exhibits, photography displays, and the sky was adorned with colorful and artistic kites.
🔹 Thrilling Adventure Activities: The festival featured parasailing, paramotoring, paragliding, jeep safaris, and ATV rides, drawing adventure seekers. Bird watching and Salt Lake tours offered nature enthusiasts a breathtaking experience.
🔹 Evening Festivities: The Deepotsav and Maha Aarti made the cultural evening even more special, while street performances by folk artists captivated tourists.
🔹 Heritage & Local Experiences: The festival hosted activities like the Sambhar Town Heritage Walk, painting and rangoli competitions, and camel rides, horse riding, and camel cart rides, which proved to be major attractions.
🔹 Astro-Tourism: Visitors were particularly fascinated by stargazing and astronomical tourism, making it a standout aspect of the festival.
🔹 Salt Processing Tour: Tourists also showed great interest in understanding the salt processing techniques of Sambhar.
