MHADA to Construct Around One Lakh Homes in Two Years – Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde

MHADA Pune Board Conducts Computerized Lottery for Sale of 3,662 Flats

Mumbai : The Maharashtra government is committed to fulfilling the dream of homeownership for common citizens and is making all possible efforts to construct around one lakh houses through MHADA in the next two years. To achieve this goal, the state’s new housing policy will soon be announced, said Deputy Chief Minister and Housing Minister Eknath Shinde.

The computerized lottery for the sale of 3,662 flats under various housing schemes in Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad, PMRDA, and Solapur was conducted by the Pune Housing and Area Development Board (a unit of MHADA). The lottery event was inaugurated via video conferencing from the Thane District Collector’s Office by Deputy CM and Housing Minister Eknath Shinde, in the presence of Deputy CM and Pune Guardian Minister Ajit Pawar, Minister of State for Housing Dr. Pankaj Bhoyar, MHADA Pune Board Chairman Shivajirao Adhalrao Patil, MHADA Vice Chairman and CEO Sanjeev Jaiswal, and other dignitaries.

During the event, Deputy CM Shinde stated that the Central Government is setting up Growth Hubs in four states to boost the national economy, one of which is in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR). These hubs will include major industries, IT companies, and service sectors, creating employment opportunities for a large number of professionals. In this context, MHADA plans to construct a total of eight lakh houses, along with rental housing and hostels for working women, students, and senior citizens.

Shinde emphasized the importance of eco-friendly redevelopment projects in Mumbai due to its geographical constraints. He expressed his satisfaction that MHADA is fulfilling the dream of homeownership for citizens and highlighted the overwhelming response to MHADA Pune’s lottery for 3,662 flats, which received 71,642 applications along with deposits. He directed officials to ensure the immediate allocation of flats to the lottery winners without compromising on quality or transparency.

He also noted that MHADA has provided around 30,000 houses through 13 lotteries in the past 18 months, which is commendable. The government is actively working on reviving stalled housing projects and slum redevelopment, which will significantly increase the housing stock. Efforts are also being made to promote planned housing through cluster redevelopment projects in cities like Mumbai, Pune, and Thane.

Trust in MHADA’s Transparent System

Deputy CM Ajit Pawar emphasized that the huge response to the lottery highlights the demand for affordable housing in Maharashtra and citizens’ trust in MHADA’s transparent process. He added that MHADA beneficiaries are its brand ambassadors, as the houses are allotted through a completely online, human-intervention-free system called IHLMS 2.0 (Integrated Housing Lottery Management System). He urged citizens not to fall prey to intermediaries and to apply only through official MHADA channels.

MHADA Pune Board Chairman Shivajirao Adhalrao Patil, in his speech, stated that MHADA has consistently provided affordable housing and will continue to do so. He encouraged citizens to take advantage of the first-come, first-served schemes in locations like Tathawade, Mahalunge, Saswad, and Purandar.

The lottery draw was broadcast live on MHADA’s official YouTube and Facebook channels, with over 48,000 participants joining from different locations. The list of winners will be published on the MHADA website (https://housing.mhada.gov.in) at 6:00 PM, and winners will also receive SMS notifications.

The event was attended by MHADA Vice Chairman & CEO Sanjeev Jaiswal, Thane District Collector Ashok Shingare, Thane Municipal Commissioner Saurabh Rao, MHADA Pune Board Chief Officer Rahul Sakore, Deputy Chief Engineer Sunil Nanavare, Anil Ankalgi, Chief Information & Communication Technology Officer Savita Bodke, Deputy Chief Officer Atul Khode, and Executive Engineer Manisha More.
