‘Sparsh Leprosy Awareness Campaign’ to Begin on January 30 – Jaipur Collector Unveils Campaign Poster

Jaipur – To fulfill Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma’s pledge of a Leprosy-free Rajasthan, the ‘Sparsh Leprosy Awareness Campaign’ will commence on Thursday, January 30, 2025, aiming to increase public awareness on the treatment and prevention of leprosy.

On Wednesday, District Collector Dr. Jitendra Kumar Soni unveiled the poster for the ‘Sparsh Leprosy Awareness Campaign’. The campaign will run from January 30 to February 13 across the district, with various awareness activities planned throughout the period.

The campaign, with the theme “Let’s all work together to raise awareness, remove misconceptions, and ensure that no person affected by leprosy is left behind”, will begin on Leprosy Day, January 30, with a message from the District Collector urging the public to be more aware of leprosy. Village Sarpanchs will also appeal to their communities to remove discrimination against individuals affected by leprosy, alongside other activities. Additionally, there will be loudspeaker announcements at the district and block levels to raise awareness about the disease.

From January 31 to February 13, ongoing promotional activities will be held at the district, block, and village panchayat levels, including street plays and various other outreach methods to inform people about leprosy. The campaign will feature activities like slogan writing, loudspeaking, pamphlet distribution, promotional vehicles, and banner displays.

The campaign will be widely promoted through electronic, print, and social media. Additionally, district officials will visit leprosy ashrams to distribute support materials and medications.

The poster unveiling event at the District Collectorate Hall was attended by Jaipur Rural Superintendent of Police Anand Sharma, Joint Director of the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment B.P. Chandel, Deputy Chief Medical and Health Officer (Health) Jaipur II Dr. Surendra Kumar Goyal, Deputy Chief Medical and Health Officer (Family Welfare) Jaipur I Dr. Manish Mittal, and other officials.
