Under the ‘100 Days Action Plan’, Parent Secretary Reviews Various Departments Efforts Should Be Made to Make Life Easier for the Common People – Parent Secretary V. Radha

Pune : Pune district is a leading district in various fields and holds tremendous potential. The district’s officers are development-focused, and they must explore how different departments can integrate their apps, portals, and online systems to make life easier for the common people and provide quick solutions to their problems. This was the directive given by V. Radha, the Additional Chief Secretary of the General Administration Department and Parent Secretary of Pune district.

She was speaking at a review meeting held at the Vidhan Bhavan as part of the 100 Days Action Plan. Present at the meeting were Divisional Commissioner Dr. Chandrakant Pulkundwar, Pune Municipal Commissioner Dr. Rajendra Bhosale, Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Commissioner Shekhar Singh, Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) Commissioner Yogesh Mhase, District Collector Jitendra Dudi, CEO of Zilla Parishad Gajanan Patil, In-charge Additional Commissioner Samiksha Chandrakar, and Superintending Engineer of Public Works Department Bappa Bahir.

Radha emphasized the need to work with a vision of how the district can be developed in line with the concept of ‘Developed India 2047’. She encouraged officers from various departments to coordinate and think long-term to ensure sustainable development. She mentioned that the district is already industrially advanced but has the potential for further growth. She suggested that the district take guidance from the central government and study the working systems of other countries and states. This will help create a more business-friendly environment in the district.

She also highlighted that the district has seen good development in the tourism sector. However, to further enhance tourism, a comprehensive tourism development plan needs to be created to encourage tourists to stay for 3-4 days and visit multiple sites, benefiting both the revenue and local employment. This could involve meetings with private tourism professionals to gather their suggestions.

Regarding service delivery to citizens, Radha suggested that the municipalities, Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority, and Zilla Parishad should work towards creating a unified platform (online system) to make their services more accessible and coordinated.

She also emphasized that instead of merely presenting problems, it’s essential to suggest solutions and clearly present to the relevant departments what is expected from them. This approach helps in speeding up problem-solving. For issues like water scarcity, plans for water conservation, optimal usage, and recycling should be prepared. Similarly, plans should be made for cleaning up rivers and water bodies in the district, and measures to preserve biodiversity in the Western Ghats should be devised.

During the meeting, Divisional Commissioner Dr. Pulkundwar provided updates on ongoing work across various departments. He stated that regular reviews by Deputy Chief Minister and Guardian Minister Ajit Pawar and at the departmental level are ensuring prompt resolution of issues and smooth execution of projects.

The review also covered the progress of various initiatives under the 100 Days Action Plan, including updating websites to make them more user-friendly, improving the quality of life, promoting investment, addressing public grievances, and providing office facilities.

District Collector Jitendra Dudi shared information on initiatives such as e-Office, Maha Revenue, e-Hakk, e-Chavadi, mobile app services for service delivery, rehabilitation website, investment window system, and computerization of office records. He also discussed the comprehensive tourism development plan being developed for the district, including the preservation of forts and the inclusion of UNESCO heritage sites.

Pune Municipal Commissioner Dr. Rajendra Bhosale presented plans for the unified water supply scheme, high-quality public toilets at key city entry points, solutions for traffic congestion, and the progress of various infrastructure projects like the Katraj-Kondhwa road and the Mula-Mutha river improvement project.

Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Commissioner Shekhar Singh outlined plans for 24/7 water supply, traffic management using modern systems, and waste collection through GPS tracking. He also discussed river improvement projects for Pawna and Indrayani.

Yogesh Mhase from PMRDA provided details about the Metro Project, outer ring road, and the Pune disaster response team.

Gajanan Patil, CEO of Zilla Parishad, shared that the development of 303 district-level primary schools will be undertaken, along with initiatives for cluster school projects similar to the Panshet model.

Bappa Bahir from the Public Works Department discussed the progress of various construction projects in the district and plans for the upcoming 100 days.
