JP Nadda Targets AAP, Says ‘Panic Button Needed in Sheesh Mahal’ Ahead of Delhi Polls

With the Delhi Assembly elections approaching, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president JP Nadda launched a scathing attack on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), alleging corruption and misgovernance. Speaking at a rally in Delhi’s Krishna Nagar, Nadda mocked AAP’s claim of installing panic buttons in buses and suggested that the real need for such a button was in the “Sheesh Mahal”—a reference to the Delhi Chief Minister’s residence—where women were allegedly being disrespected and abused.

Nadda’s remarks were linked to allegations by Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal, who accused former Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal’s personal aide, Bibhav Kumar, of assaulting her at the then CM’s residence. “The panic button AAP boasted about should have been installed in the Sheesh Mahal, where women are mistreated,” Nadda said.

Allegations of a Rs 500 Crore Scam

The BJP president also accused AAP of misusing public funds under the guise of safety measures. “They claimed to have installed panic buttons in buses, but it turned out to be a Rs 500 crore scam. Have you seen panic buttons in buses?” Nadda questioned the crowd. He alleged that while AAP pretended to focus on women’s safety, its leaders were embroiled in controversies and misconduct.

‘AAP’s Honest Image is a Myth’

Nadda went on to dismiss AAP’s self-proclaimed image of being an “honest party.” “They used to call themselves ‘hardcore honest,’ but their chief minister, deputy chief minister, ministers, and MLAs have all been to jail,” he said.

He further accused AAP of prioritizing corruption over governance. “They claimed they would reform education, but instead, they got caught in a liquor scam worth thousands of crores. The so-called AAP-DA government has been exposed as corrupt, with its top leadership, including the CM and five MLAs, behind bars.”

‘Kejriwal is the World’s Biggest Liar’

Taking a direct jab at Arvind Kejriwal, Nadda called him the “biggest liar in the world.” “I have seen many people lie, but Kejriwal has broken world records. He is nothing less than a lying machine,” he said.

Political Landscape Before Delhi Elections

The Delhi Assembly elections are set for February 5, with vote counting scheduled for February 8. As the election draws near, the political battle has intensified, with BJP, Congress, and AAP vying for power.

In the last elections in 2020, AAP secured a landslide victory, winning 62 out of 70 seats, while BJP managed only eight. The Congress, which once ruled Delhi for 15 years, failed to win a single seat. With corruption allegations, governance debates, and strong rhetoric dominating the campaign, the 2025 Delhi elections are set to be a heated contest.
