AAP’s Manish Sisodia Casts His Vote in Delhi Assembly Elections
New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate from Jangpura, Manish Sisodia, along with his wife Seema Sisodia, cast their votes in the ongoing Delhi Assembly elections on Wednesday. Sisodia exercised his franchise at Lady Irwin Senior Secondary School in the New Delhi Assembly constituency. Speaking to the media, the former Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi urged citizens to vote for better education, healthcare, electricity, and water facilities.
After casting his vote, Sisodia stated, “I have voted today for a better future for the people of Delhi. I appeal to all Delhiites to vote for quality education for their children, improved healthcare for their families, and uninterrupted electricity and water supply. I am confident that the ‘Education Revolution’ will triumph.”
The Jangpura constituency is witnessing a three-way contest between AAP’s Manish Sisodia, Congress’ Farhad Suri, and BJP’s Tarvinder Singh Marwah. Earlier in the day, Delhi Chief Minister and AAP candidate Atishi also appealed to voters to actively participate in the elections. In a post on X, she described the elections as a “dharma yuddha” (battle of principles).
“The Delhi election today is not just an election, it is a dharma yuddha. It is a battle between good and evil, between progress and lawlessness. I urge all residents of Delhi to cast their votes. Vote for development, vote for integrity. The truth will ultimately prevail,” Atishi said.
AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal also called upon voters to turn out in large numbers. In his message to Delhiites, Kejriwal emphasized that voting was not merely about pressing a button but about shaping the future of the next generation. “Your vote is a step towards better schools, world-class hospitals, and a dignified life for every family. Today, we must defeat the politics of falsehood, hatred, and fear and ensure victory for truth, development, and honesty. Cast your vote and encourage your family, friends, and neighbors to do the same,” he urged.
Polling for all 70 assembly seats in Delhi began at 7 am on Wednesday and will continue until 6 pm. Authorities have implemented tight security measures to ensure smooth voting across the city. New Delhi and Jangpura are among the most closely contested constituencies.
AAP, which secured more than 60 seats in the 70-member assembly in the previous term, is seeking re-election on the basis of its governance record. In New Delhi, AAP chief and former Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal is locked in a triangular contest against BJP’s Parvesh Verma and Congress’ Sandeep Dixit, the son of former Delhi CM Sheila Dixit.
A total of 699 candidates are in the fray for the 70 assembly seats. The national capital has 1,56,14,000 registered voters, comprising 83,76,173 men, 72,36,560 women, and 1,267 third-gender voters. This election also includes 2,39,905 first-time voters aged 18-19, along with 1,09,368 senior citizens aged 85 and above, and 79,885 persons with disabilities.
With voting underway, all eyes are on the outcome of this high-stakes election, which will determine the next government in Delhi.
