Excise Secretary and Commissioner Ms. R. Sangeeta reviews departmental activities: Directs strict action on illegal liquor and narcotics

The Excise Secretary and Commissioner, Ms. R. Sangeeta, today held a departmental review meeting in New Raipur. The meeting was attended by officials from Chhattisgarh State Marketing Corporation Limited, Chhattisgarh State Beverages Corporation, Flying Squad, and excise officers from various districts. The meeting focused on reviewing departmental activities and discussing work plans to achieve revenue targets. Ms. Sangeeta reviewed the progress relative to the revenue targets set for April 2024 to January 2025 and instructed the preparation of district-wise detailed action plans for the upcoming months.

Ms. Sangeeta directed strict action on the manufacturing, storage, transportation, and sale of illegal liquor and narcotics, in compliance with the guidelines of the State Election Commission, especially considering the local elections. She emphasized enhancing vigilance at excise checkpoints located at interstate boundaries and conducting special campaigns.

She also instructed officials to ensure the availability of liquor in retail stores according to consumer demand and to prevent sales at prices higher than the prescribed rates. She stressed the importance of timely and effective resolution of complaints received through the “Manpasand” mobile app and the toll-free number 14405, focusing on customer satisfaction and grievance redressal.

Training and Financial Discipline for Excise Employees

The Excise Secretary directed the organization of training programs for excise constables working in the field, and instructed the preparation of work plans in coordination with district-level authorities. She also emphasized ensuring that liquor stores do not sell at prices above the prescribed rates and that no adulteration occurs in the liquor, ensuring strict compliance. Ms. Sangeeta stated that excise store employees should receive timely salaries, and the amounts collected from sales should be deposited in the bank as per regulations. She clarified that any negligence in this regard would lead to appropriate action against the concerned cash collection or banking agencies.

The meeting also included instructions for the swift resolution of pension, compassionate appointment, and pending court cases. The Managing Director of Chhattisgarh State Beverages Corporation, Mr. Shyam Lal Dhawde, Special Secretary (Excise) Mr. Devendra Singh Bhardwaj, and other senior officers were present at the meeting.
