Experience Rural Art and Culture at ‘Mahalaxmi Saras’ – Minister Jaykumar Gore

‘Mahalaxmi Saras Sales and Exhibition – 2025’ from February 11

Mumbai : The state-level Mahalaxmi Saras Sales and Exhibition, aimed at empowering rural women through their artistic skills, will commence on February 11. This exhibition provides a platform for self-help groups to showcase and sell their products, encouraging entrepreneurship and self-reliance among rural women. Minister for Rural Development and Panchayat Raj, Jaykumar Gore, has urged Mumbai residents to visit the exhibition and explore the diverse products, rural art, and cultural heritage on display.

Organized by Umed – Maharashtra State Rural Livelihoods Mission under the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department, the Mahalaxmi Saras Sales and Exhibition – 2025 will be inaugurated on February 11, 2025, at the Bandra-Kurla Complex.

Over 500 Stalls Featuring Products from Across India

The state-level exhibition will feature over 500 stalls, including 400 stalls from Maharashtra and 100 from other states. Additionally, there will be a grand food court with 80 stalls, offering a variety of vegetarian and non-vegetarian delicacies prepared by skilled rural women from different parts of the state.

This grand exhibition, which has been a favorite among Mumbai residents, will provide a unique glimpse into rural culture. Held in a spacious, air-conditioned venue, it will ensure a comfortable experience for visitors from Mumbai, Thane, Navi Mumbai, and Panvel. Minister Gore has encouraged citizens from across the metropolitan region to attend and support rural artisans.

Exhibition Open from February 11 to 23

Visitors can explore Mahalaxmi Saras from February 11 to 23. The exhibition will feature a wide range of handcrafted items, handloom textiles, wooden crafts, Banjara and Warli art pieces, jewelry, traditional wooden toys for children, and rare artifacts from various states. Additionally, certified organic food products will be available for purchase.

Organized under the leadership of Minister Gore and guided by Principal Secretary of the Rural Development Department, Eknath Davle, this initiative aims to provide a marketplace for rural artisans and entrepreneurs.

The Umed – Maharashtra State Rural Livelihoods Mission works towards organizing and empowering rural women through self-help groups, offering training in various skills and business development. Thousands of women have become successful entrepreneurs through this mission. The Mahalaxmi Saras exhibition is held annually to promote their products and expand their market reach. Previously, it has been successfully organized in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, and Nagpur, receiving an overwhelming response from the public, according to the Rural Development Department.
