Government Will Not Reclaim Benefits Given to ‘Majhi Ladki Bahin’ Beneficiaries – Minister Aditi Tatkare
Mumbai – The Women and Child Development Minister, Aditi Tatkare, has assured that the honorarium already deposited in the accounts of beneficiaries under the ‘Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin’ scheme will not be reclaimed. She further emphasized that the government is committed to providing financial assistance to all eligible women under the scheme.
However, women who have been declared ineligible will no longer receive payments from January onwards. The department has clarified that no amount previously disbursed (from July 2024 to December 2024) will be recovered from beneficiaries’ bank accounts.
The ‘Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin’ scheme was launched by the state government to empower women financially, targeting those in the 21 to 65 age group. Under this initiative, eligible women were provided with a monthly honorarium of ₹1,500.
During a review process, it was found that some ineligible women had availed of the scheme, prompting the government to conduct a verification process. Consequently, while those deemed ineligible will be removed from the scheme, the government has confirmed that no funds will be reclaimed from them.
As per government resolutions issued on June 28, 2024, and July 3, 2024, women who do not meet the eligibility criteria are being excluded from the ‘Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin’ scheme.
