Eastern Railways Reaffirms Commitment to Seamless Operations, Safety & Security

Eastern Railways has reiterated their commitment towards a seamless railway operation along with augmenting safety and security.

Eastern Railway is pleased to announce that works to raise passenger platforms (PF) at 13 stations, within the Malda Division, including Dhamdhamiya, Tildanga, Bonidanga, Dashrathpur, Dhanauri, Uren, Kalyanpur Road, Masudan, Ghogi Bariarpur, Kharia Pipra, Barahat, and others, is in progress immediately after being sanctioned.

Elevated platforms & alignment of the platform height with the compartment doors minimises the void between the doors and the platform edges enabling the passengers to board and disembark trains more safely and comfortably, particularly benefiting senior citizens, children, and passengers with disabilities, thus controlling fatal slips-falls while embarking and disembarking.

Moreover, these works will be accompanied by other improvements at the stations, including better lighting, seating arrangements, and more efficient infrastructure, contributing to a more comfortable and efficient station environment, along-with Railway’s vision to cater to the future passenger needs, this initiative is designed to support the increasing demand for safe and efficient travel. The works will also ensure that these stations are better prepared for handling more passengers in the years to come.

Eastern Railway Enhances Safety and Efficiency with Infrastructure Upgradation Between Khagra Ghat Road and Karna Subarna:

Eastern Railway has successfully completed the insertion of RCC boxes and slabs as a step further towards elimination of Level Crossing Gate 24/A/9 in the Khagra Ghat Road – Karna Subarna block section of the Katwa – Azim Ganj section under the Howrah division and substitution of the level crossing with Limited Height Subway for more safety and mobility. This crucial work was executed on February 8, 2025, through a planned engineering block which completed well within time with minimum disturbance to train movements.

This work was carried out as part of ongoing efforts to enhance passenger safety, improve train punctuality, and ensure smooth and efficient operations. Regular maintenance of the overhead electric system is crucial for preventing technical failures, reducing delays, and ensuring a seamless travel experience for passengers. These improvements will not only enhance the reliability of train services but also contribute to the overall efficiency of the railway network.

As part of the work, maintenance of the overhead electric system was carried out at multiple locations, including necessary repairs and adjustments to key components that supply power to trains. Several sections of the contact wire and supporting equipment were overhauled, improving the stability and durability of the system. Additionally, vital inspections and adjustments were made to ensure that the power supply remains uninterrupted and trains can run smoothly without disruptions. To further strengthen the infrastructure, adjustments were made to the alignment of certain sections of the overhead wires to optimize performance.

Eastern Railway remains committed to upgrading railway infrastructure for a safer and more efficient travel experience. Passengers can expect improved reliability and better on-time performance as a result of these enhancements. The railway authorities appreciate the cooperation of passengers during these essential works and will continue to undertake necessary improvements to provide a more comfortable and hassle-free journey.

Enhanced Safety Measures Implemented at LC Gate No. 97/E on Krishnanagar – Lalgola Section:

In a significant step towards enhancing safety and reliability, Level Crossing (LC) Gate No. 97/E, located between Debagram and Plassey stations in the Krishnanagar – Lalgola section, has been interlocked on 8th February 2025.

The following advanced safety features have been incorporated to ensure seamless and secure railway operations:

    • Mini Integrated Power Supply System (IPS) – Prevents signal blanking, ensuring continuous power supply.
    • Provision of Data Logger (RTU) – Facilitates real-time monitoring and recording of signal operations.
    • Voice Logger Telephone – Enhances communication efficiency for gate operations.
    • Electrical Lifting Barrier with Standby Sliding Barrier – Ensures reliable gate operation with backup provisions.
    • Three-Aspect Signal Unit for Road Signal & Hooter – which improves road user awareness and safety at the crossing.
    • Approach Warning System – Provides an early alert for approaching trains.
    • Two-Aspect Colour Light LED Gate Signal – Enhances visibility and clarity of signal indications.
    • Maintenance-Free Earth System – Ensures consistent electrical grounding for improved reliability.
    • Gate Panel with IPS & Track Charger Failure Alarm – Enables quick response to system failures, ensuring uninterrupted operation.
    • Eastern Railway enhances platform raising works across the Sealdah Division:

The stations involved in this initiative include Baharu, Mallikpur, Kulpi, Taldi, Suryapur, Lakshmikantapur, Dhapdhapi, Gurudas Nagar, and Sangrampur.

While the ongoing works may cause some temporary disruptions, Eastern Railway is committed in completing these upgrades with minimal impact on daily operations. The project is part of a long-term vision to enhance the infrastructure across the Sealdah Division, fostering future growth and promoting greater passenger satisfaction. Ultimately, this initiative aims to position Eastern Railway as a leader in providing safe, accessible, and efficient train services across the region.

Ongoing Works on Raising of Platform heights at several stations over Howrah Division of Eastern Railway:

As part of its ongoing commitment to improving passenger safety, comfort, and convenience, Howrah Division of Eastern Railway is undertaking an important infrastructure initiative to raise platform heights at key stations across its network. This project is designed to enhance accessibility, streamline boarding and alighting processes, and reduce the risk of accidents at train platforms.

In response to the growing number of passengers, and the need to ensure safer and more efficient movement at stations, Eastern Railway has commenced raising of platform heights at 15 stations across its jurisdiction, namely Bagnapara, Samudragarh, Balagarh, Somra Bazar, Ahmadpur Junction, Bolpur, Bhedia, Gadadharpur, Prantik, Bataspur, Noadar Dhal, Dainhat, Agradwip, Sahebtala, and Bardhaman. Work is already ongoing at these locations, with the objective of raising the platform heights to a standard level, ensuring smoother embarkment & disembarkment for passengers. The platform raising work will be carried out in phases to ensure minimal disruption to train services. Eastern Railway urges passengers to cooperate with the ongoing works and follow any temporary guidelines in place to ensure their safety and convenience during this period of enhancement.

These infrastructural upgradations reaffirm Eastern Railway’s commitment to passenger and public safety by integrating advanced technological solutions to enhance the efficiency of railway crossings thus improving the travel experience for passengers.
