BJP’s Vijender Gupta Rejects Atishi’s Allegations of Emptying Municipal Coffers

Delhi: BJP MLA from Rohini, Vijender Gupta, has firmly rejected the allegations made by Delhi’s caretaker Chief Minister Atishi, who claimed that the BJP had drained the coffers of the municipal corporation and the Delhi government. Gupta dismissed her statement as a result of frustration and disappointment following her party’s poor electoral performance.

Gupta criticized Atishi for making baseless accusations, stating that her frustration was a consequence of AAP’s poor show in the recent elections, where several prominent leaders, including Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, Satyendra Jain, and Saurabh Bhardwaj, faced defeat. He further stated that Atishi’s concerns were rooted in AAP’s alleged corruption, which she will soon have to defend in the Assembly.

Gupta held the AAP government responsible for the financial crisis in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), citing its failure to establish the Sixth Delhi Finance Commission, which is tasked with managing MCD finances. He also criticized AAP for neglecting key municipal issues, such as sanitation, waste management, and sewage, despite being in power since 2022.

The BJP leader accused the AAP government of mismanaging Delhi’s finances, attributing the financial strain to years of corruption and neglect under the AAP’s decade-long rule. Gupta vowed that once the BJP comes to power, it will work to resolve the revenue deficit and streamline financial management. He also highlighted that development projects, including the cleaning of the Yamuna River, had already been initiated before the BJP’s official government formation.

Refuting claims of power cuts, Gupta stated that power companies had clarified that there were no scheduled outages. He dismissed Atishi’s allegations as baseless and blamed her for her “deteriorating mental condition.”
