Ravindra Natya Mandir and P.L. Deshpande Maharashtra Kala Academy to Be Inaugurated on February 28
Mumbai : The centrally located Ravindra Natya Mandir and P.L. Deshpande Maharashtra Kala Academy will be reopening for theatre enthusiasts from February 28, 2025. The grand inauguration ceremony will be held at 6 PM and will be graced by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, Public Works Minister Shivendra Raje Bhosale, Skill, Employment, Entrepreneurship & Innovation Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha, MP Anil Desai, MLA Mahesh Sawant, and other dignitaries.

Cultural Affairs Minister Adv. Ashish Shelar extended an open invitation to all Mumbaikars to attend the event during a press conference today.
Prior to the press conference at Mantralaya, the new logo of P.L. Deshpande Maharashtra Kala Academy was unveiled by Minister Adv. Shelar in the presence of Vikas Kharge (Additional Chief Secretary to the CM and Cultural Affairs Department), Deputy Secretary Nanda Raut, and Academy Director Meenal Joglekar.
While unveiling the logo, Minister Shelar emphasized that it represents various art forms such as folk arts, classical arts, visual arts, and audiovisual arts, making the academy a true home for artists.
He further highlighted that P.L. Deshpande Maharashtra Kala Academy has nurtured generations of artists and art enthusiasts since its inception. The academy provides a platform for emerging talents while also supporting artists with innate skills. Additionally, it will now offer a comprehensive space for art presentation, education, appreciation, preservation, and employment generation. Notably, 20 different certificate and diploma courses in the field of arts will soon be introduced, benefiting aspiring artists.
Minister Shelar also mentioned that the complex includes Ravindra Natya Mandir, two smaller theatres, five exhibition halls, and 15 rehearsal rooms, ensuring convenience for artists. Moreover, these renovated theatres will now feature state-of-the-art facilities, including advanced sound systems and enhanced interiors, catering to the needs of both theatre and Marathi cinema.
