CM Stalin Lays Foundation for ₹717 Cr IT Parks in Tiruchirappalli & Madurai

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin laid the foundation stone for the establishment of new IT parks in Tiruchirappalli and Madurai, which will provide employment opportunities to 12,000 skilled professionals with an investment of ₹717 crore.

At a ceremony held at the Secretariat today (18.02.2025), Chief Minister Stalin initiated the construction of an IT park in Panchapur, Tiruchirappalli, with an investment of ₹403 crore, covering an area of 5.58 lakh sq. ft., consisting of a ground floor and six additional floors. Similarly, in Mattuthavani, Madurai, an IT park worth ₹314 crore will be developed over 5.34 lakh sq. ft., featuring a ground floor and twelve additional floors. These IT parks aim to boost investments, create job opportunities, and contribute to Tamil Nadu’s goal of becoming a $1 trillion economy by 2030.

Tamil Nadu, recognized as India’s second-largest economy, has been actively attracting investments and generating employment, particularly in the technology sector. The Union Government’s Economic Survey for 2024-25 has commended Tamil Nadu’s efforts in investment promotion and job creation. The state has been expanding its tech ecosystem by establishing mini IT parks in tier-2 and tier-3 cities such as Villupuram, Thanjavur, Thoothukudi, and Salem.

Following the establishment of the first IT park in Taramani, Chennai, by former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi in 2000, the state has continued to expand its tech infrastructure. As part of this initiative, a new IT park in Pattabiram, Thiruvallur, with an investment of ₹330 crore, featuring 21 floors and modern facilities, was inaugurated on 22.11.2024.

The newly announced IT parks in Tiruchirappalli and Madurai will provide state-of-the-art infrastructure, including integrated workspaces, cooling systems, and 24×7 security, ensuring a conducive environment for IT, ITeS, BPOs, and startups. These parks are expected to generate employment for 12,000 skilled professionals and contribute to the economic development of the respective regions.

The event was attended by Municipal Administration Minister K.N. Nehru, School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi, Industries and Investment Promotion Minister T.R.B. Raja, Chief Secretary N. Muruganandam, Investment Secretary V. Arun Roy, and officials from TIDCO and IT park planning.
