CIDCO Home Lottery Winners Are Fortunate – Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde

‘My Preferred CIDCO Home’ Lottery Draw; Deputy CM Congratulates the Winners

Mumbai : Affordable, secure, and high-quality housing should be accessible to all, improving their standard of living and fulfilling their dream of home ownership. Institutions like CIDCO and MHADA are working transparently to achieve this goal. Today, on the auspicious occasion of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s birth anniversary, the dream of 21,399 citizens is coming true through CIDCO’s ‘My Preferred CIDCO Home’ initiative. Those who have secured these rightful homes are indeed fortunate, expressed Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.

The online lottery draw for CIDCO’s ‘My Preferred CIDCO Home’ was conducted at the Yashwantrao Chavan Pratishthan in the presence of Deputy CM Shinde. The event was attended by CIDCO Vice Chairman and Managing Director Vijay Singhal, Joint Managing Director Shantanu Goyal, CIDCO officials, and citizens participating in the lottery.

Deputy CM Shinde highlighted that this was CIDCO’s largest-ever lottery, allowing citizens the unique privilege of selecting their preferred home. He emphasized that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has committed to providing homes for all, and such large-scale housing distribution is a significant milestone. He further noted that CIDCO homes, built in collaboration with Tata, L&T, and Shapoorji, are of exceptional quality and strategically located near railway stations and airports, benefiting the common people. With the rapid urbanization of Navi Mumbai, the demand for housing has surged, he added.

Previously, traveling from Navi Mumbai to Mumbai would take over an hour, but now, due to the Atal Setu, the journey takes only 20 minutes, Shinde pointed out. He also announced plans for a dedicated corridor from Thane to the airport and a metro link between Mumbai Airport and Navi Mumbai Airport. These initiatives will significantly save time for Mumbaikars. With the central budget allocating three crore homes nationwide, Maharashtra is set to receive 20 to 25 lakh homes, he affirmed.

Shinde further stated that new housing schemes are being introduced to encourage Mumbaikars who moved out of the city to return. Various organizations like CIDCO, MMRDA, MSRDC, Mahapreet, BMC, MHADA, and SRA are collaborating to expedite stalled projects. Through group development initiatives, citizens will benefit from open spaces, playgrounds, schools, and medical facilities, he said.

Speaking about the MTHL project, Shinde mentioned that some NGOs and environmentalists had opposed it, fearing it would reduce the flamingo population in Navi Mumbai. However, due to the use of advanced technologies such as Remover Circulation Drain and Noise Barriers, the flamingo population has not only remained stable but has increased. This demonstrates that the government is committed to eco-friendly projects, he noted.

He also announced a new housing policy focusing on affordable homes, rental housing, student hostels, accommodation for working women, senior citizens, mill workers, and dabbawalas.

During the event, a video message from Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis was played, and greetings from Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar were read out.
