1,200 additional buses deployed for final phase of Mahakumbh 2025 bathing

Lucknow : To ensure seamless travel for devotees during the last phase of Mahakumbh-2025, the Yogi government has arranged 1,200 additional rural buses, allocated strategically across different areas for better crowd management. This decision comes in response to the high influx of pilgrims.

Uttar Pradesh Minister of State for Transport (Independent Charge), Dayashankar Singh, stated that these 1,200 buses have been reserved specifically for Mahashivratri bathing from February 20 to 28, 2025, to prevent any inconvenience to visitors.

He said, “750 shuttle buses are already operational in the Sangam area.” He has instructed officials to ensure proper duty allocation and their presence for smooth bus operations.

In light of lower passenger turnout expected from six regions of Western Uttar Pradesh—Saharanpur, Meerut, Ghaziabad, Bareilly, Moradabad, and Aligarh—the minister has directed that at least 25 buses be dispatched daily from these areas to Prayagraj. This will help accommodate the rising number of pilgrims from Purvanchal.

Furthermore, buses operating from Prayagraj, Varanasi, Azamgarh, Chitrakoot, Ayodhya, and Devipatan (excluding fair operations) will be limited to a maximum of 300 km, allowing for their swift deployment to the fairgrounds as needed.
