Incomplete Work on Mumbai-Goa National Highway Should Be Prioritized – Public Works Minister Shivendra Raje Bhosale
Inspection of the Palaspe to Kashedi Ghat Road
Raigad – Public Works Minister Shivendra Singh Raje Bhosale conducted an on-site inspection of the Mumbai-Goa National Highway today to review the ongoing work. He assessed the current progress, delays, land acquisition challenges, and other issues affecting the project. He directed the concerned authorities to take immediate measures to resolve these problems and expedite the completion of the highway.
Minister Bhosale is on a tour of Raigad and Ratnagiri districts to inspect the unfinished sections of the Mumbai-Goa National Highway. The inspection began at Palaspe Phata in Panvel. This highway is being developed in 12 phases, covering a total distance of 439.88 km. The minister is specifically reviewing the 281 km stretch from Palaspe Phata (Panvel) to Hathkhamba (Ratnagiri). Officials from the Public Works Department and the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) provided updates on the current status and requirements of these projects. Minister Bhosale urged them to coordinate and accelerate the construction work for timely completion.
During the inspection, he visited several locations, including Palaspe Phata, Pen, Washi Naka, Gadab, Amtem, Nagothane, Kolad, Indapur, Mangaon, and Lonare Road, where he reviewed the ongoing construction. He also interacted with local residents to understand their concerns and assured them of the government’s support in resolving issues.
At a review meeting held at the government rest house in Mahad, Minister Bhosale instructed that the incomplete sections of the Mumbai-Goa National Highway be prioritized for completion by the end of May. He also emphasized the importance of ensuring smooth traffic flow to prevent congestion and inconvenience to travelers.
The meeting was attended by Horticulture Minister Bharat Gogawale, MP Dhairyasheel Patil, MLA Ravindra Patil, Chief Engineer (NH) Mr. Shelar, General Manager Anshumani Srivastava, Project Director Yashwant Ghotkar, Superintending Engineer (NH) Mrs. Tripti Nag, Superintending Engineer (PWD) Mrs. Sushma Gaikwad, Executive Engineer Mr. Sukhdeve, Mr. Namde, and other senior officials.
Minister Bhosale stressed that service roads near under-construction bridges should be maintained properly for smooth traffic movement, especially before the monsoon and Ganesh Chaturthi festival. He informed that the tender process for the Indapur and Mangaon bypass bridges would be completed in February, with construction starting in March. He also instructed the department to ensure that contractors maintain high-quality standards in construction.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has directed that the Mumbai-Goa National Highway project be expedited. Minister Bhosale urged all stakeholders to ensure timely and high-quality completion of the project through mutual coordination. The meeting also included discussions on flyovers, service roads, drainage systems, monsoon-related waterlogging, traffic congestion, and streetlights.
