NHM, Health & Family Welfare Dept. Mizoram and DDK Sign Work Agreement

Today, NHM, Health & Family Welfare Department Mizoram, and DDK signed a work agreement at the National Health Mission Director’s office for the production and broadcasting of various health awareness and educational programs under the Health Department. These programs will be aired on Doordarshan Aizawl to promote public awareness and highlight the department’s initiatives.

During the event, Pu C. Vanlalsiama, Head of Program, DDK, emphasized the importance of Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) initiatives taken by the state government and their impact on public outreach. He stressed that health and agriculture-related programs are crucial for public welfare and that continued collaboration for effective outreach is essential.

Dr. Eric Zomawia, Mission Director, National Health Mission, also addressed the gathering, stating that discussions on health-related topics and improving public health initiatives will continue. He expressed confidence that the collaboration with DDK will further strengthen IEC efforts under NHM, leading to overall advancements in public health awareness. Additionally, he highlighted NHM’s plans, including the upgradation of ZMC, Civil Hospital, and Ayush facilities, as well as the expansion of Food & Drugs programs, Sub-Centres, PHCs, and Rural Health Programs under 40 national schemes currently in progress.

The theme for the NHM-DDK collaborative program is set to be “Ensuring Health for All.” The episodes will be aired every Wednesday and Friday afternoons, with a total of four broadcasts per week.

Officials from both NHM and DDK attended the signing ceremony. At present, DDK Aizawl is also collaborating with the School Education Department, MZSRLM, and the Mizoram Sustainable Development Foundation on various projects, and this partnership with the Health Department has now been formalized.
