‘Agristack’ – A Digital Identity Initiative for Farmers
To ensure faster and more transparent access to government schemes through digital services in the agriculture sector, the Central Government launched the ‘Agristack’ initiative across 24 states, including Maharashtra, on October 14, 2024.
The primary objective of this initiative is to provide farmers with a unique identification number by linking their data with Aadhaar, enabling them to quickly access various agricultural schemes from both the central and state governments. Additionally, the project aims to collect and update critical data, such as seasonal crop details, geo-scientific information, and more. Other key goals include simplifying access to agricultural loans and insurance services, streamlining the Minimum Support Price (MSP) process through online registration, and accelerating digital transformation in the agriculture sector by integrating farmers with modern technology and innovative solutions.
Benefits of the ‘Agristack’ Initiative
With the digital identity card, farmers will enjoy several benefits:
- Faster access to the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme.
- Quicker loan processing and better financial assistance for agricultural development.
- Easier market access for farmers.
- Reduced visits to government offices, as services become digitally accessible.
- Immediate updates on new government schemes.
- Simplified crop insurance and disaster management, making loss assessment and compensation more efficient.
- Online registration for MSP procurement, ensuring a seamless buying process.
How to Register for Agristack
Farmers can register for their digital identity card through Common Service Centers (CSCs), Talathis (Revenue Officers), Agricultural Assistants, or Village Development Officers by visiting the official Agristack portal: https://mhfr.agristack.gov.in.
For those who find the online process difficult, the Revenue Department is conducting special campaigns at the village level, where officials help farmers link their Aadhaar details with their land records (Satbara extract) for free registration under Agristack.
