Delhi CM Rekha Gupta Meets PM Modi, Reviews Infrastructure Plans
Just two days after taking the oath as Delhi Chief Minister, Rekha Gupta met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence in the national capital on Saturday. This marked their second meeting since the swearing-in ceremony at Ramlila Maidan on February 20, where the Prime Minister attended the event alongside Union Home Minister Amit Shah and other NDA leaders.
Focus on Infrastructure and Road Repairs
Earlier in the day, CM Rekha Gupta chaired a crucial meeting with Public Works Department (PWD) officials to discuss infrastructure improvements and road repairs across Delhi. According to a statement from the Delhi BJP, the discussion covered issues related to dug-up roads, damaged highways, and traffic congestion, with the Chief Minister directing officials to take prompt action.
Meanwhile, Delhi PWD Minister Parvesh Verma conducted an on-site inspection of ongoing projects between Bhairon Marg and Sarai Kale Khan on Ring Road. During his visit, he interacted with officials and local residents, addressing their concerns and ensuring efficient project execution.
“Make a road that lasts 10-15 years instead of just five years, even though that is the official timeframe,” Verma instructed an official, emphasizing the need for durable infrastructure. He also inquired about the 4-km stretch currently under repair, particularly regarding measures taken to minimize traffic disruptions. Officials assured him that roadwork is being carried out lane-by-lane and primarily at night to reduce congestion.
AAP Leader Atishi Raises Concerns Over Women’s Welfare Scheme
Amid these developments, former Delhi CM and AAP leader Atishi has raised concerns about the delay in implementing the ₹2,500 monthly financial assistance scheme for women.
In a letter to CM Rekha Gupta, Atishi expressed disappointment that the scheme was not passed in the first cabinet meeting on February 20, despite being a key election promise.
“The mothers and sisters of Delhi had placed their trust in Modi ji’s guarantee, and now they feel cheated,” Atishi stated. She has also requested a meeting with the Chief Minister on February 23 to discuss the matter further.
With CM Rekha Gupta prioritizing governance and infrastructure, all eyes remain on how her administration will address key public concerns in the coming days.
