Yogi govt distributes 1847 assistive devices to senior citizens at Shravan Kumbh

Mahakumbh Nagar/Lucknow : In line with the Uttar Pradesh government’s commitment to the well-being of senior citizens, the Social Welfare Department has organized Shravan Kumbh in Sector-7 of the Mahakumbh area, providing free medical check-ups and assistive devices.

So far, 1,847 assistive devices have been distributed, including hearing aids, lumbar belts, knee support belts, walking sticks, wheelchairs, spinal support, and cervical collars.

Under the guidance of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and the directions of Social Welfare Minister Aseem Arun, the Social Welfare Department is running a dedicated camp in the Mahakumbh area.

A.K. Singh, Deputy Director of the Social Welfare Department, stated that doctors from AIIMS Delhi, PGI Lucknow, PGI Chandigarh, and Jharkhand are providing their services at Shravan Kumbh.

Additionally, medical professionals from Kerala, Rajasthan, Karnataka, and Punjab are also conducting free health check-ups. An OPD facility has been set up at the department’s pavilion for comprehensive health examinations.

Furthermore, the Social Welfare Department has established a 100-bed temporary old age home in the Kumbh area. This facility accommodates destitute senior citizens residing in government-run old age homes, bringing them to the holy site for a sacred bath at the Sangam as part of their spiritual experience.
