Chief Secretary Chairs State Water And Sanitation Mission (Swsm) Meeting

Aizawl : The Apex Committee of the State Water and Sanitation Mission (SWSM) convened a meeting at the CS Conference Hall, MINECO, under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Pu Khilli Ram Meena. The meeting focused on the Annual Implementation Plan (AIP) for the year 2025-26, under Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen) Phase-II.

A budget of approximately ₹254.9 crore has been proposed for the AIP. Among Mizoram’s 11 districts, seven districts achieved ODF Plus (Model) status by December 31, 2024, with an additional district expected to attain the status by the end of March 2025. For the 2025-26 plan, the remaining three districts are targeted to become ODF Plus (Model).

Similarly, out of 637 villages, 569 have already achieved ODF Plus (Model) status, while 51 villages are expected to reach this milestone by March 2025. The AIP includes an additional 17 villages for intervention. The meeting also discussed various initiatives, including the construction of soak pits for waste management, water supply infrastructure, improved drainage systems, waste disposal measures, and other sanitation-related projects.

The meeting was attended by officials from PHED and representatives from various departments, including LAD, Finance, I&PR, School Education, H&FW, P&PI, and RD, along with their respective secretaries.
