Sixth Meeting of the State Planning Commission

The Honorable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Thiru M.K. Stalin, presided over the sixth meeting of the State Planning Commission, which took place at the Secretariat in Chennai.

During this meeting, the Honorable Chief Minister released three reports prepared by the State Planning Commission:

  1. Final Report on the Impact of the Chief Minister’s Nutritious Meal Scheme on Government School Students
  2. Study on the Performance of 10th and 12th Grade Public Examinations
  3. Sociological Study of Skilled Workers in Urban and Surrounding Areas

Following this, the Member Secretary of the State Planning Commission, Professor P. Perianayagam, provided a detailed overview of the commission’s activities and progress made since the fifth meeting. He also reviewed the implementation of the directives issued by the Honorable Chief Minister in the previous meeting.

The discussions included an evaluation of policy recommendations submitted to the Chief Minister on 16.12.2024, the impact assessments of government flagship programs, and various research findings. The commission analyzed the effectiveness of these policies and their benefits for the general public.

Additionally, the meeting highlighted special initiatives undertaken by the State Planning Commission, such as the Tamil Nadu Innovation Initiative and Development Plans for Marginalized Communities.

The Honorable Chief Minister emphasized that the state’s progress should be rooted in social justice, equality, self-respect, secularism, human rights, and regional autonomy. He stressed the importance of inclusive development programs to uplift marginalized communities and ensure equitable growth.

He also urged the commission to monitor the implementation of various research-based recommendations, ensuring that government departments act upon them effectively. Furthermore, he directed officials to focus on education, healthcare, sanitation, food security, and employment generation, urging the commission to provide practical policy suggestions to the government.

The meeting was attended by the Minister for Special Program Implementation, Thiru. Udhayanidhi Stalin, Member Secretary of the Planning Commission, Professor P. Perianayagam, senior government officials, planning commission members, and experts from various fields.
