Complete all preparations on time for PM’s proposed visit: CM Yogi

Varanasi : Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath held a review meeting with public representatives and officials at the Circuit House auditorium on Thursday. During the meeting, he emphasized timely completion of all preparations for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming visit.

He directed officials to ensure that all projects scheduled for inauguration and foundation-laying by the Prime Minister are fully prepared. He took note of land subsidence incidents at Namo Ghat and directed officials to conduct a quality inspection and ensure immediate repairs. He also instructed them to develop a concrete action plan for the beautification of the Varuna Riverfront and complete the work without delay.

CM Yogi first visited Mehandiganj in Raja Talab, the proposed venue for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s public event. He emphasized the need for robust security and timely completion of all arrangements. “No visitor should face any inconvenience at the venue. Ensure proper drinking water, shade, mobile toilets, and ORS packets,” he instructed.

In the meeting, Commissioner Kaushal Raj Sharma made a presentation on the preparations for the arrival of the Prime Minister. Along with this, information was also given about the development projects to be inaugurated and foundation stone laid by the Prime Minister.

Police Commissioner Mohit Agarwal gave information about the preparations of the police for the arrival of the Prime Minister. The Chief Minister was also informed about the progress of all the campaigns including cow smuggling, verification of illegal auto-e-rickshaw drivers, campaign against loudspeakers, CCTV campaign, Operation Chakravyuh, foot patrol, night patrol, implementation of three new laws, cyber crime.

In response, the Chief Minister instructed authorities to intensify foot patrols to prevent chain snatching, robbery, and crimes against women. He emphasized the need for a complete crackdown on cow smuggling by targeting key offenders. Additionally, he ordered swift action to curb incidents of love jihad and forced conversions while ensuring revenue disputes are resolved promptly based on merit.

The Chief Minister reviewed progress on projects at Harishchandra and Manikarnika ghats, stressing their completion before the monsoon. He suggested promoting the use of cow dung cakes for cremation and warned against unnecessary design changes in ongoing projects after DPR. Additionally, he directed officials to make it a public campaign by involving public representatives, organization, booth workers and common people.

During the review, officials informed CM Yogi that under the Jal Jeevan Mission, tap water supply had reached 211 village panchayats in the district. He instructed them to expedite the remaining work and ensure every household receives a water connection soon. He further instructed to get the quality of the completed projects checked.

The Chief Minister expressed displeasure over the Chief Engineer of Jal Jeevan Mission not providing proper information regarding drinking water connection of houses and warned officials to come to the meeting with complete information in future.

The Chief Minister emphasized the need to identify a suitable location for the expansion of the National Forensic University campus. He also stressed the importance of running regular cleanliness drives in both urban and rural areas, ensuring public participation, and enforcing a complete ban on single-use plastic. “This should be conducted as a full-fledged campaign,” he directed.

Additionally, he instructed officials to expedite road widening work in Dalmandi. To ensure smooth execution of development projects, he mandated the appointment of nodal officers for each ongoing project, with regular monitoring of progress and quality.

Regarding urban planning, the Chief Minister directed officials to simplify the approval process for commercial and residential maps in villages under the jurisdiction of the Varanasi Development Authority, ensuring people do not face unnecessary delays. He also emphasized the need for a structured approach to Varanasi’s planned development, suggesting a solid cluster-based strategy. Directing the municipal corporation to ensure a steady supply of clean drinking water, he said, “With rising temperatures, there should be no disruption in water supply anywhere in the city.”

During the meeting and inspection, Minister of State for Stamp (Independent Charge) Ravindra Jaiswal, Minister of State for AYUSH (Independent Charge) Dr. Dayashankar Mishra ‘Dayalu’, District Panchayat President Poonam Maurya, Mayor Ashok Tiwari, MLC Hansraj Vishwakarma, Dharmendra Rai, Jagdish Pathak, MLA Dr. Neelkanth Tiwari, Dr. Sunil Patel, Saurabh Srivastava, Sushil Singh etc. were present.
