Call for Proposals to Empower Private Sports Academies Under ‘Mission Lakshyavedh’

Mumbai : The Government of Maharashtra is actively implementing the “Mission Lakshyavedh” scheme to promote a modern sports training ecosystem. The initiative focuses on upgrading infrastructure, enhancing sports medicine, organizing competitions, offering awards and incentives, providing career guidance, and boosting the performance of athletes. Under this scheme, financial assistance will be provided to private sports academies. District Sports Officer for Mumbai Suburban, Mrs. Rashmi Ambedkar, has invited interested academies to submit their applications by April 21.

The state government continues its efforts to promote sports culture and nurture talented athletes with the vision of preparing them to win medals at international competitions such as the Olympics. Mission Lakshyavedh targets 12 disciplines—Athletics, Archery, Badminton, Boxing, Hockey, Lawn Tennis, Rowing, Shooting, Sailing, Table Tennis, Weightlifting, and Wrestling—for which top-performing private academies in the state will receive financial aid. For the Mumbai Suburban district, the selected focus sports are Boxing, Athletics, Wrestling, Table Tennis, and Shooting.

Academies will be evaluated based on several criteria including athlete performance, coaches and support staff, available infrastructure, quality of training equipment, and past achievements. Based on this evaluation, academies will be classified as:

  • Grade ‘A’ (76–100 points): ₹30 lakh annual aid
  • Grade ‘B’ (51–75 points): ₹20 lakh annual aid
  • Grade ‘C’ (35–50 points): ₹10 lakh annual aid

Funds can be used for upgrading infrastructure, improving training facilities, paying coaches’ salaries, and procuring equipment.

Interested academies can collect further information and application forms from the Office of the District Sports Officer, located at:
Government Physical Education College Campus, Opposite Sambhaji Nagar, Akurli Road, Kandivali (East), Mumbai – 400101.

For inquiries, contact Mrs. Preeti Temghare, Sports Executive Officer, at 9029250268. District Sports Officer Mrs. Rashmi Ambedkar encourages all eligible institutions to take full advantage of this scheme.
