Chief Minister Attends The 26th General Assembly Of Vantawng Group YMA
Buangpui : The 26th General Assembly of the Vantawng Group Young Mizo Association (YMA) was held at Tuirihiau Run, Buangpui. The meeting was graced by the presence of the local MLA and Chief Minister, Pu Lalduhoma, as the chief guest. Minister Pu B. Lalchhanzova was also present as a special invitee.
In his speech, the Chief Minister expressed appreciation for the efforts of the Vantawng Group YMA and reaffirmed his commitment to continue working for the development of his constituency. He announced several upcoming initiatives, including the installation of a new ultrasound facility at Thenzawl Hospital and a dialysis unit at Serchhip Hospital. He also stated that the establishment of a new PWD Division in Thenzawl was a result of necessity and not favoritism. Plans for constructing a ropeway at Vantawng Falls were also mentioned.
Highlighting the “Peace City” project in Thenzawl envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Chief Minister expressed confidence in securing support through continued follow-ups. He mentioned having discussed the project during the 16th Finance Commission’s visit. The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has recently approved ₹300 million for the master plan of this initiative, and further progress is expected soon.
The Chief Minister emphasized that true progress requires moral integrity among the people. Without a strong moral foundation, development cannot be sustained. Therefore, the government is prioritizing moral reformation alongside physical development. He encouraged all citizens, especially youth, to lead a life of discipline and integrity, warning against the destructive influence of drugs. He also praised Sub-Inspector Zirthanga, who recently apprehended a major drug supplier, and announced that he will be honored soon.
The CM further acknowledged the vital role YMA plays in community development and moral guidance, encouraging the group to continue its work with dedication and enthusiasm. He hoped the General Assembly would be a joyous and meaningful occasion.
Today’s General Assembly was presided over by Pu Chawngsangliana, Vice President of the Vantawng Group YMA. The opening prayer was offered by Pu C. Biakhlimpuia, and various branches of the YMA presented cultural performances. A women’s gathering was also held in the afternoon, during which Pu B. Lalchhanzova delivered a speech.
Vantawng Group YMA comprises 13 branches with a total of 7,523 members. Since the last general assembly, the group has lost 62 members, and a remembrance service was held in their honor during the meeting.
