Balanced Development Across Maharashtra in Next Five Years: CM Devendra Fadnavis at India Global Forum

Mumbai : Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced a clear roadmap for balanced growth across all regions of the state during the ‘India Global Forum – Next 25’ event held at the Jio World Centre, BKC. He emphasized that seamless facilities are being provided for investors, and a robust ecosystem is being created to ensure investments reach every part of the state.

Addressing the forum alongside India Global Forum founder Manoj Ladwa, MMRDA Commissioner Sanjay Mukherjee, and Industries Secretary P. Anbalagan, CM Fadnavis stated that Maharashtra is actively creating new investment opportunities and enhancing facilities for the global supply chain. The state is leading in artificial intelligence and already hosts several key domestic and international industries. Through the Skill University, the state is developing a skilled workforce, eliminating talent shortages. He also highlighted Maharashtra’s focus on green and smart technology-based industries.

Fadnavis underlined the importance of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), which alone has the potential to build a $1.5 trillion economy—half of Maharashtra’s $3 trillion target. Mumbai is being developed as a FinTech capital, while Navi Mumbai is emerging as a new urban hub with EduCity and Innovation City. Five global universities are finalizing campuses here. Additionally, the Navi Mumbai International Airport will soon be operational, with improved connectivity via the Atal Setu.

Plans are underway to transform Vadhavan into the country’s largest port, connected by the Samruddhi Expressway, giving rise to a ‘Fourth Mumbai.’

The government is equally focused on rural and backward regions. Pune is becoming an automobile hub, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar an EV manufacturing center, Gadchiroli a steel hub, and Vidarbha a solar power production zone. Irrigation and connectivity projects—like four river-linking initiatives and canal networks—are in progress, benefiting 15 districts and multiple airports under development in Shirdi, Pune, and Nagpur.

Of the investment MoUs signed, 85% are being implemented, while efforts are underway to realize the remaining 20%. The state is expediting land acquisition and approvals to support industry needs, Fadnavis added.
